I bought a new set of tyres from the above mentioned retailer, Exhaust&tyre city on garsfontein road, as per recommendation from the salesman,Justin ****ian, I chose a set of new pirelli scorpion A/T 265/65/R17 tyres. Above and beyond that I was informed that my shocks were damaged and needed to also change those of which I did because its all for safety and longevity of the new tyres and car as a whole.
I informed them i would be taking a trip and hope this brand will serve me well, of which they swore it would be the better experience as compared to the previous tyre brand I had on, Continental A/T 265/R17.
I took off and went on my trip the following day(day after I had my tyres fitted) , left for the Eastern Cape, excited to test out this recommended tyre, pirelli scorpion atr.
After Middleburg, en route Graaf Reniet, through the mountain passes I watched my rear right tyre blow up and disintegrate, of which I quickly pulled over in shock, not because I had a tyre burst but HOW CAN A BRAND NEW PIRELLI TYRE BURST LIKE THAT, NOT HAVING EVEN DONE 1000KM YET???????
I immediately sent the retail distributor images of what had happened and got a response the Monday.
I was informed that pirelli would send a rep to get the tyre so a test could be conducted, after I had to call them to check what would happen.
I then was told to wait until Wednesday so pirelli could go through their process.
Today (Wednesday), after calling AGAIN( not getting any feedback as I was informed they would do so), I'm told that before end of business pirelli would contact me.
I get an email, from a Mark Eatwell, saying that based on the IMAGES I has sent (mind you I was informed by Justin from Exhaust&Tyre city that my tyre would be fetched so the process could be done and that pirelli was compiling a report and would call me) "The exact cause of the rapid deflation cannot be investigated considering the condition of the tyre. The tyre has been totally destroyed by runflat."
I then responded asking what that meant exactly, zero response.
I then proceed to contact Mark from pirelli and he says that I need to get the tyre to them so they can to tests on it, total contradiction to what he had sent via email. He then proceeds to say I must simply get a new tyre , at my own accord.
Their reps aren't allowed to take decisions regarding tyre claims, of which that wasn't the question at hand. ( I asked if aren't they supposed to take the tyre as I was informed by Justin from Exhaust&tyre city they would and pirelli would tend to the matter at hand)
I am already disappointed at the way pirelli handles their customer care, very poor.
Now I must buy another tyre and live with it, meaning Exhaust &tyre city have removed themselves from the equation going by how Justin Kilian has not responded once to my emails on Wednesday but I had to call him to get feedback regarding the matter, meaning that once a customer pays they do not care one bit for when there's a problem they should assist.
I will never but another pirelli tyre again for any of my vehicles because it is a sub par service delivering company in RSA and going by how it handled on the road it is not worth the consideration.
I will not be buying any product or service Exhaust&tyre city in garsfontein pretoria ever again because they didn't even bother to update me as a client who went by their recommendation and one who has a problem with a brand they sold to.
Both companies have beyond disappointed me as a client as a whole, they have the worst after sales service.
