On Friday evening, 23 Oct 2020, 3 lady friends (including myself) wanted to have an after-dinner drink at Ferrymans Tavern. We entered happily and smiling, but were rudely chased out by an angry male employee (the manager?) who told us that "his" bar is very busy and can we not see he has barred off the entrance. This was not clear to us. In addition the tavern was less than half full, with lovely music playing. He scolded us angrily by saying we should have waited only 10 minutes and perhaps then he could assist us. Up to this point we said nothing, and was shocked as the tone of his voice sounded that he is doing us a favour by allowing us into the tavern. I then said to my friends let us leave, and just said the word "Rude!" to him. This was a very distasteful ending to an otherwise lovely evening in the Cape Town Waterfront. I do not understand this behaviour, as we are locals, and in the absence of international tourist during the COVID pandemic, surely restaurants would welcome local support?
