on 29 March 2017 I've raised the following: I’d like you to clarify something please. On the website “moviesite – brooklyn nouveau”, the FPB rating for blasphemy is indicated as none - (http://www.moviesite.co.za/2017/0324/the-sense-of-an-ending.html) Your website states that the FPB is accountable to the general public. The latest available statistics of South Africa indicated that 79.8% of the population is Christian believers. For Christian believers, the words “God, Lord, Jesus Christ, Here and Christ” are names for the Holy Almighty God and not to be used as a form of swearing or any other. It’s the Lord’s name which we call upon during prayer and praise. I’ve seen the movie “a Sense of an Ending” and the words “ God and Jesus Christ” are used on 4 different occasions and for all of these occasions the intention was to swear in anger. I found it utterly heart breaking that the FPB states they are accountable to the general public, of which 79.8% are Christians, yet you’ve indicated the blasphemy on this movie as zero. How do you think that you have done your duty? I’d like to hear from you before I decide how to take the matter further. On 30 March 2017 my query was acknowledge with confirmation that it will be escalated to the relevant department. On 10 April 2017 I got the following: Thank you for your enquiry below. Blasphemy is a voluntary category classifiable element that is assessed against its frequency and impact levels holistically in the film. We do however thank you for your email. Your concerns will be entered into our portfolio of evidence that will be taken into account during the Classification Guideline Review process. The Classification Guideline Review process consult various stakeholders including members of the public. Please feel free to participate in these once they are held in your region. And on the same day I've replied with: Thank you for your email. However, if ever I've seen a worthless email from accepting responsibility, yours is the perfect example. Blasphemy is blasphemy – it doesn’t only become blasphemy after a certain number of times that the words are uttered. You are misleading God fearing people and for that, responsibility will be claimed from you – whether in this life or the day of Reckoning. Please advise when is your next classification review process is open. On 2 May 2017 FPB replied: Kindly note that our internal unit are currently busy planning for the Classification Review Process, once the date has been finalised you will be notified. And since then, absolute no replies on my follow up emails on 25/8/2017, 27/9/2017 and 18/10/2017 And in the meantime, the meaningless blasphemy rating from FPB continues while innocent God fearing people notice the blasphemy rates as zero, buy a movie ticket just to walk out of the cinema when the blasphemy starts. So I've lost trust in your rating process and I am loosing money. But then, I'd rather loose trust in your process and money, than loosing my soul to the ways of this world. You on the other hand, still have to answer to God......
