So we joined a gym in Ballito on 28 Feb. The sales lady took us on a 3 min walk through the gym. Did not enter the bathrooms and quickly rushed us to the sales area, where we signed up for a year. On our first visit the following day (and every day since) , we noted and reported the terrible state of the premises, which includes: 1) All latches to the toilets in the ladies bathrooms are broken, except for one, which is permanently closed. As a woman, I'm expected to use the toilet where everyone who enters the bathroom can see me. When I reported it, I was told it is a "minor issue". 2) So many of the machines are broken. And seems to have been broken for months to years, depending on the machine. (According to other members' feedback) 3) The dust, old sweat and filth on the equipment has formed crusted layers on the equipment, like the Treadmills. 4) Speaking of the Treadmills, if you forgot to take your pre-workout, just jump onto one of the TM's. Sometimes it delivers a little shock to the system as you get on and you can watch a little firework show at the plug. It doesn't last long, but I'm pretty sure that isn't normal. When I reported it, I was told that I am not telling the truth as they have no fault reports on file and the TM's are working 100% 5) The place has no windows that can open, and the aircon and ventilation system seems to have been out of order for years now. There are some days where it works, but mostly doesn't so we just get hot boxed in this filthy, dingy, sweat-crusted space. You can however bring your skateboard and use the cans on the floor collecting water dripping from the AC's as an obstacle course! I've reported my concerns to the branch every day. Left multiple messages daily with reception, sales and any one I could find related to the gym, for the branch manager to call me. I wanted to know what the plans were to fix the place. Needless to say, he just never called. Ignored me flat. So I submitted a request for a refund, which obviously was declined and I was told that I am lying about the condition of the gym. On 13 March, the branch manager gets the admin lady to call me on his behalf and set up a meeting with him (he seems to not know how to use a phone?) Dont see the point, as they have already declined my refund request and called me a ****. But, I will go hear what he has to say. I visited the branch again this morning (14 March), hoping that the latches on the ladies toilets would at least be repaired. But no, the place is in the same disgusting and embarrassing state. No efforts made.

Fit24Gym Closed in Park Square Umhlanga and informed all members to use the Oceans Mall Fit24Gym. This was not the agreement we had. Do to work time I cannot travel to that gym. The Honest thing to do would be to give members an option. You guys have no listed email for customer support. And when I try and contact you via telephone the call drops. Stop debiting my account.

I have been a member at Fit24 Gym in Ballito for 18 months or so. In this time I have had frequent cause to bring to their attention the dismal condition of the male showers and toilets. In fact I have been to the front desk 4 times and twice spoken to the manager to request that they do something about the missing shower doors, broken mixers and missing shower heads. As of this morning 25 Feb 2026 - five out of six showers have missing or broken mixers. At least three of them have shower doors that have been broken off and never replaced and at least two are missing shower heads, one of which simply has a hole in the wall and the other has just a pipe jutting out. Unfortunately this is not the worst of the problems facing members who frequent this gym. The toilet bowls in the male change rooms are seldom, if ever, clean. This morning it was a delightful three out four toilets that were lined with traces of faecal matter; but alas it gets worse. The large toilet (which is the first cubicle on the left when you walk into the toilet area) is clearly for the use of disabled or wheelchair bound members. I occasionally use it if the other three are too unsightly. On Monday morning this week (23rd Feb 2026) I walked into this cubicle only to find a toilet that appeared to have been spray painted in what can only be described as brown goo! Toilet paper hung from the roll and lay in bits and pieces on the floor around the bowl. I reported this to one of the salesmen and to the front desk, where the manager was standing with another staff member. They assured me, as they have done so many times before, that they would "get someone to look at it". This morning (25 Feb 2026) 48 HOURS LATER - NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! I decided to take photographs of the toilets and shower area in question. Unfortunately Hello Peter does not seem to have a feature where one can attach pics. Although perhaps in the interest of not causing too much retching and vomiting I should refrain from showing it around or posting it on any social media platforms. In all my years training in gyms throughout South Africa, what I saw at Fit24 Ballito this week is the singular most disgusting thing I ever seen in a gymnasium change room. I can only imagine the horror that a disabled person would experience having to be confronted with this sight when it is their sole option to relieve themselves. In the face of numerous requests to remedy these problems the totally lack of action on the part of the Gym - speaks volumes.

Their sales practices will convince you'll "save big" as long as you pay upfront, and they're quick to tell you you can cancel at any time with a 20 day notice period - all lies. The equipment is often broken, no one is cleaning up after themselves, weights are all over the gym, often the AC doesn't work etc. Furthermore, their client service is non existent, once you sign up, forget about enquiring about your payments, etc. Stay away.

A **** in the literal sense of the word run by a tyrant, a bully and a ****** in form of Gert 'the owner'. With all year long limited special offers, a cash upfront gym contract in this gym is 2k any given time of the year however unsuspecting clients can pay up to 17k if ******** professionally. Their branches are closing left right and center and yet they will continue ****ming unsuspecting people till they shut doors even going to an extent of issuing **** statements. Any branch of theirs that is still open it's only a matter of time before closure as they are also famous for not paying their rent at all (ask any landlord of theirs). Anyone who joins this gym please note you might not only loose your money however you are also showing support in monetary value to tyranny, bullying of workers/staff/ members and ******.

If I could give this gym a ZERO I would! I joined Fit24 Gym on a yearly membership promotion. When I signed up, I was never told that the membership was non-refundable, nor was I provided with a contract or made aware of any specific terms. I was only given a receipt, and everything was handled casually, with no proper explanation of policies or restrictions. After attending the gym for only a few weeks, I decided to cancel due to a serious incident involving another male gym member that left me feeling unsafe and uncomfortable returning to the facility or the surrounding area. I reported this to the gym and was advised to prioritise my safety, which I did. Despite clearly explaining that my decision to cancel was based on a genuine safety concern, the gym refused to issue a refund. They later claimed that my membership was part of a “non-refundable promotion” a condition that was never disclosed when I joined. To make matters worse, they only sent me a contract long after I requested a refund. It’s unacceptable for a business to dismiss valid safety concerns, show no empathy, and still insist on keeping a customer’s full payment for a service they can no longer use. The member involved continues to attend the gym freely, while I’ve had to completely change my routine and look for another gym just to feel safe. Women’s safety in this country is never treated as a priority and when people finally start taking action, it’s often too late. This situation has shown a complete lack of transparency, accountability, and basic human decency. No one should have to go through such an experience, especially after raising legitimate safety concerns. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who values fairness, honesty, and respect and SAFETY especially if you're a woman!
