Buying a used car these days is always difficult, you never know how much you can trust either the person or the dealership you buy from.
Which is why when one buys a pre owned vehicle. You often choose to buy from a reputable dealer, albeit at a premium price. You have the peace of mind knowing you have recourse because of the cpa
I bought a pre owned 2018 ford ranger wild trak from Audi mbombela (nelspruit)
When they delivered the vehicle there were a few small things I noticed which needed to be attended to. As I do with all my cars, I got my friend to run a diagnostics on the car Brandon May.
What came up was really interesting… the vin number on the ecu did not match the vin number on the natis document. Which is completely illegal.
My first thought ran to it’s a stolen vehicle. I called Audi and explained everything to them. Let me just tell you, Hennie the sales manager from Audi was brilliant, on the ball and immediately tried to assist in getting it resolved and the dealer principal Adele also. Fantastic service. Anyone buying a car from them can rest assured you are receiving top service.
The car which I bought was purchased and had a full service history from nelspruit auto ford. The ecu that was in this vehicle was registered to a 2016 ford ranger xlt, 2(different vehicles)
When Audi called ford to query this, ford could not give any reason as to why this was.
Both vin numbers belong to cars purchased and serviced by nelspruit auto.
However even though the ecu that was in the car was a 2016 model with different mileage, the service book showed it was stamped and up to date on the vin number that was in the natis, which is impossible to do, as when you service a car at a dealership, the system automatically records the vin on the ecu and updated what service was done. So how then if it a different ecu is it then stamped in the book with a different vin unless fraud is involved.
Ford refuses to give answers and say they will investigate.
Needless to say once I brought this to the attention of Audi, the immediately investigated, cancelled the contract and have returned the vehicle.
Now, how certain can one be when buying a car even from a franchise dealership that you are getting what you paid for… plain and simple you can’t unless you do your own due diligence immediately after buying the car.
If anyone in the nelspruit area reads this, never deal with nelspruit auto ford Bunch of skelms
How many people has this happened to?? Countless I bet.
And instead of aknowleding they were caught out and try rectify it, just a keep quiet and take the car back. No sorry no nothing.
Thank you Audi nelspruit for your quick and effective response in sorting out this problem
