We asked for Gardens Locksmiths three times to come out to a block of flats 1km from them to look at a faulty door swing mechanism. They cancelled three times and on enquiry the owner was belligerent to falsely allege (i.e. lie) that an unnamed woman had called to cancel the call out. It is unfortunate because their technicians are great but owner/manager is rude and awful to clients.

We are in the classic car restoration business. We approached gardens locksmith to rebuild a vintage lock which is difficult if not impossible to replace. On 2 occasion during the process, the staff member lost a tiny part which we then had to replace my sacrificing another lock. While is very easy to loose those tiny bits, the problem is the the staff member denied and **** straight into my face. He was not only covered up by the owner of the shop, he was also covered by Mr. Ogata, the head of the Cape Town locksmith association. The whole affair sheds a very disappointing light on the industry, which is not accountable, which is not trustworthy. In fact it was the second time that Mr. Ogata covered up for wrongdoing of his collegues.

I called them out to fix my doorbell and all they did was break my fibre cabling for wifi which cost me R3500 to fix. Three days later and the only thing I have achieved was spending R3500 to fix something that wasn't broken and they deny any responsibility. My doorbell has been working sporadically for about 2 years now. This is not the first time they came to look at it. The first time I called them to fix it, they told me my cabling was broken but their solution was to just give me a remote control stuck against the wall. Then when I called them recently when the doorbell didn't work at all anymore, they again (new people) investigated and in doing so, broke my fibre cable and triumphantly informed me that they have identified the problem as broken cabling which is why my doorbell doesn't work (we and they already knew this). The wifi was broken since their visit and after getting a wifi technician out, they saw that the fibre was broken and I had to pay R3500 to get that fixed. After that I phoned Gardens Locksmith and they deny that their men fiddled with the wiring and broke the fibre cabling. The timing and evidence of broken fibre was just too coincidental for it not to have been them. They offered no apology and no compensation or no fixing of the doorbell for which they were called out in the first place.
