Frustration on Grade 8 Online Application

I am frustrated with the Grade 8 online admission process and the lack of clear feedback. I app**** on time, but the application still shows “Application is being processed”. I visited the district office and was told to wait two weeks as learners were still being placed. I then called the department twice and was again told to wait an extra week because placements were not yet finalised.

I visited the department today and was informed that the school I app**** to is already full, and that all other schools within our zone are also full. This is confusing and concerning, as the system still shows that the application is being processed, with no official update or outcome provided.

I was also told that placement is not done on a first come, first served basis, and that preference is given to learners who already have siblings at the school. This information was never clearly communicated, and it does not help parents when no schools in the area have space.

At this point, there are no schools nearby that can accommodate my niece, and I am not being given clear guidance on what I am supposed to do next. Even the consultants seem unsure and unable to give clear answers.

The system needs to be reviewed, as parents who apply on time should not be left without feedback or solutions. I urgently request clarity on my child’s placement and advice on the next steps.
