Gogi Korean restaurant in Observatory (The Halaal one) .my first time going there, I made a reservation and was earlier but they were able to seat us , the staff , all of them are so friendly and helpful, and assist you well with recommendations. We have yet to try the actual BBQ but the good we did have was delicious!the environment, the bathroom facilities, staff, food , everything was just beyond expectation. I have no complaints .they even taught me how to use chop sticks lol.staff were really friendly .it gets busy and sometimes you need to call for their attention but I really have no complaints

Gogi Korean BBQ halal in Observatory, is one of the worst restaurant service experiences I’ve ever encountered. The restaurant was fully staffed, but none of the waitresses seemed to be doing their work or sticking to their tables. We had three different people serve us and each forget our order multiple times. We received our food - all of which were raw ingredients that don’t require prep - an hour after we ordered and after we had to ask for it. The restaurant was sp****, with only 4 tables occupied and fully staffed. You pay for meat and bottomless sides but the sides didn’t come after multiple requests so we had barbecued all our meat which stood and got cold while we waited for sides. Only after we requested to speak to the manager, who refused to come out, did the waitresses bring our sides. The sides are given in small portions and we finished them quickly between two people so we had to request more and they were not brought out to us. It took 2 hours to receive and barbecue our food before we could eat and at the end we asked for the manager again and she said she knew customers were unhappy but no one told her we requested to speak her. Regardless, she was aware of the situation but sat in the kitchen the entire time. She was also one of the people that waited on us and disappeared, never to bring our order or to return to the floor again. This restaurant is completely disorganised and management is extremely poor. We paid R700 for our meal which we couldn’t even enjoy or eat properly because it was brought in pieces over 2 hours.

This is my absolute favourite restaurant. The atmosphere is so relaxed and playful. The staff is incredibly friendly and happy to assist you with the bbq and aid you in making choices. They are all very accommodating and share their own life experiences freely. The food is fantastic!! Anything on the menu will blow your socks off. My favourite part of visiting is the soju and soju bombs. Fantastic place!

Gogi Korean BBQ is a delightful culinary experience that transports diners straight to Korea. The atmosphere is vibrant, with friendly staff eager to guide newcomers through the menu. The highlight of the meal is undoubtedly the kimchi, a staple in Korean cuisine. Gogi’s kimchi is perfectly fermented, offering a spicy and tangy flavor that complements the rich BBQ dishes. The menu features an array of options, including the highly recommended bulgogi, which is marinated beef grilled to perfection. Diners can enjoy the interactive experience of grilling their own meats at the table, enhancing the social aspect of dining. The variety of side dishes, or banchan, including pickled radish and seasoned potatoes, provides a wonderful balance to the meal. While the prices are slightly on the higher side, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience justify the cost. Gogi Korean BBQ is not just a meal; it's an exploration of flavors and textures that leaves a lasting impression. For those looking to indulge in authentic Korean BBQ, Gogi is a must-visit destination.
