My children and I checked in at Hoogland Health Hydro on Friday December 10th 2021. Saturday after breakfast, my daughter and I sat in the garden whilst my son went back to his room. When I went to my room to fetch my phone before 12 noon, I found my room cleaned, my handbag open and you could easily see the purse. I never suspected anything I thought I maybe forgot to zip. We checked out on Sunday. Later that day, I went to a store. When I was at the till to pay, I noticed I only had R110. I was shocked as I remembered clearly that I withdrew R500 before we left which I added to a few notes I already had. Then only time I opened my purse there was when I gave the guy who helped us with luggage money. I called Hoogland, told the reception. The guy advised that I email management which I did explaining the sequence of events.. I received a response the following morning. One of the managers apparently chatted with the lady who cleaned my room. The lady told her that she never entered the room without either me or my daughter being there and that she never took anything. She told me that she trusts her staff. She asked me to double check and said that there must be some other logical explanation. I told the management that there's no truth in what she was saying because we were in separate rooms and also that no one came to my room in my presence or me and my daughter together in my room. My son also left his to join us as she entered his room. After another email from management saying that the lady is adamant that my daughter was in the room busy on her phone while she was cleaning and only left when she was mopping the floor, I requested a meeting with management, the cleaning lady and us. My daughter was shocked at this especially the phone part as there is no reception in the rooms but at the dining area or reception. When I called about a request for a meeting, the guy who is also a manager was defending the employee.He told me the meeting will not happen as i want to humiliate the lady. He said I must just give him account details he'll send me the money. I tried to explain that its not about the money but the untrue story that she's telling. I wanted her to say all that in front of all of us.. Another email then came from the lady manager telling me that the meeting won't happen and that they will engage their legal team on how best to handle this. I was promised the feedback a week after the email dated 14/12/2020. Nothing in my inbox by the time of this review. For me this experience meant that the management will protect their staff against all odds and that the customer doesn't matter to them.
