I purchased a ruggear RG 500 phone from the agents in Centurion as I require a robust phone that can withstand a shock as well as a phone that can handle water. I went onto the internet and ruggear came up where Instacom markets the unit as being rugged and can be dropped at a height of 1.2m and 1.5m under water for 30 minutes. So I purchased a ruggear RG500 in Sept 2015 and in Dec 2015 the phone dropped off a table and the battery clips broke off a week later the phone showed signs of water damage and I took it back. At that stage Instacom exchanged the phone and commented that there was a weakness in the battery clip. 2 weeks ago the phone dropped again and this time into a bucket of water where the clips broke off and water damage occurred. Instacom has now informed me that the phone is beyond repair and that I need to purchase a new one at R5500. I need to understand and will be taking to the National Consumer Council as the specs clearly states wateproof and drop resistant so why must I as a client have to purchase a new phone at R5500 if the phone is only 6 months old. Thats false advertising and I clearly stated we work on ladders and rough places
