It is the most disorganized park in the whole of Africa. Not sure why its a Heritage site. The staff are rude, not wearing masks in the office (Covid-19) when asking about a map of the wetland park you get told to buy one in the town of St.Lucia. The staff don't great you they put a very badly photo copy for down and I quote ''fill in and give drivers document to them, not sure what for, I did not do this as I don't have a south African drivers document. The person that spoke to me said I need to pay to get in which I did and then drove to the gate, well even worse attitude of the staff. Once in the park area we drove on the tar road which was in average condition. The dirt roads should be closed to the public, we drive a 4x4 SUV and was not an enjoyable ride on any of the dirt roads, the bush on the sides of all the roads is way to thick so one can't see anything. We decided to visit on of the bird hides, and once again waste of time, no water in the dam, hide was falling apart and over grown with bushes, it was dirt inside. The sign boards in the park are so badly faded you battle to read them until you are almost on-top of them. The picnic sits are a joke, no seats, only 1 BBQ stand and a waste bin. This is very sad as we were there back in the 90's and it was clean, and everything was run as one would expect, but as for now don't waste your time or money in visiting this park.
