I am a proud citizen in the Mbila area in Olakeni under Induna Benjamin Zikhali. This is very unfortunate that I have to go through all this trouble as a citizen to write a complaint about the manner I was treated on Sunday 27 October 2024 at you entrance gate at Sodwana Bay. I am a citizen since 2020 and never had a problem until yesterday. It seems like there is two or more sets of rules at your gate, depending on who is working and who is not. The staff was very rude and charged me for people that was visiting me at my house in Mbila. I want to mention the ladys name that was extremely rude at the gate: Zodwa Myeni was rude as I arrived at the gate and all I wanted to do was to go in and support the local people that is selling baskets at the parking area. I never had to pay for guests visiting me at my house but yesterday I was forced to. She even threatened me that I and my vehicle will never be allowed back into Sodwana just because I was asking why I need to pay today. This behavior is very unprofessional and can not be excepted when you work with the public or local citizens in this matter. I will write a more detailed email to the gate manager at Sodwana Bay. Just thought that I need to let you all know about the double standards at the gate and the unpleasant welcome I experienced.

We were surrounded by elephants for over 2 hrs. Why have an emergency number that is not reachable. We saw our lives flash before our eyes. The least we expected was someone on the other end of the emergency number to advise us on what to do.

This is a beautiful location, animals in good health condition and the area is being clean on a regular basis. Various lookout and picnic spot available in the area. A variety of wild animals in this Park so do not hesitate to take the off-road driving experiences. Beware of the Elephants they may get aggressive to protect there area and there young. Friendly staff and they will assist you in any way. Please hold on to your ticket, you will pay a fine if you loose it. Prices are a bit expensive for day visitors. There is no shop inside the park, ensure you buy all your snacks and drinks before entering. For day visitors it is prohibited to take any alcohol inside the park, security will search your vehicle before entering

The following incompetent parties failed to pay back our wedding permit bond after requesting a bank confirmation letter, which had been provided to them via email on the 10th of March for a wedding held in Sodwana Bay on the 26th of February. No response was received from the so-called people in charge nearly two months later: bhekimabika@isimangaliso.com, thandolwethu@isimangaliso.com, bukhosini@isimangaliso.com, info@isimangaliso.com - how difficult can it be?

It is the most disorganized park in the whole of Africa. Not sure why its a Heritage site. The staff are rude, not wearing masks in the office (Covid-19) when asking about a map of the wetland park you get told to buy one in the town of St.Lucia. The staff don't great you they put a very badly photo copy for down and I quote ''fill in and give drivers document to them, not sure what for, I did not do this as I don't have a south African drivers document. The person that spoke to me said I need to pay to get in which I did and then drove to the gate, well even worse attitude of the staff. Once in the park area we drove on the tar road which was in average condition. The dirt roads should be closed to the public, we drive a 4x4 SUV and was not an enjoyable ride on any of the dirt roads, the bush on the sides of all the roads is way to thick so one can't see anything. We decided to visit on of the bird hides, and once again waste of time, no water in the dam, hide was falling apart and over grown with bushes, it was dirt inside. The sign boards in the park are so badly faded you battle to read them until you are almost on-top of them. The picnic sits are a joke, no seats, only 1 BBQ stand and a waste bin. This is very sad as we were there back in the 90's and it was clean, and everything was run as one would expect, but as for now don't waste your time or money in visiting this park.

The diving is awesome but the gate/entrance is extremely badly managed. The staff is rude and unprofessional. They also seem to make up 'rules' as they go along. Due to the terrible experiance at the gate, I do not think I will ever visit the area again. I will miss the diving though.
