Stay away from JB Train Tours at all cost!
The Shosholoza train on our tour from 5 January 2020 gave persistent trouble from Johannesburg. We got stuck at Prince Albert Road after the third locomotive broke down. Instead of arriving in Cape Town at 21h30, we are stuck 300+ km away. Johan Baden horst, the owner, kept on talking to PRASA, instead of solving the problem. We paid money for other activities which we cannot attend or cancel. I expected JB to arrange alternative transport, but we were left to suffer on a train without water, sanitation, etc for more than a full day. Shame on you, JB Train Tours!

We trust that the telecon explanation about the logistics, given to you, made sense though we assume that it does not satisfy your immediate needs. A bus has been organised by JB Train Tours in the mean time.

13 Jan 2020, 05:50The response does not instill any confidence in JB Train Tours, nor does it convince me to rate their service any higher. They get one star, because I cannot rate zero stars in a visible way. There is no planning for incident management, mitigation of risks or any other event out of the ordinary. They KNOW PRASA's service is unreliable, yet they leave their clients in the lurk and prefer to keep money in their pockets!
If they are truly serious about client service and how to plan for it, I am more than willing to engage as a business consultant with them, but I suspect they will not spend the money on a good cause...

08 Apr 2022, 08:33And bad management at the company. Just speak to your customers, directly. We pay for the service. We deserve to hear you when there are problems. But I believe the same owner is doing tours to Namibia, just not by train anymore?
