The Shosholoza train on our tour from 5 January 2020 gave persistent trouble from Johannesburg. We got stuck at Prince Albert Road after the third locomotive broke down. Instead of arriving in Cape Town at 21h30, we are stuck 300+ km away. Johan Baden horst, the owner, kept on talking to PRASA, instead of solving the problem. We paid money for other activities which we cannot attend or cancel. I expected JB to arrange alternative transport, but we were left to suffer on a train without water, sanitation, etc for more than a full day. Shame on you, JB Train Tours!

We were delayed for 12 hours on the Shosholoza Meyl and lost 1 day of the tour. Contacted JB Tours, CEO was not available and apparently does not talk to clients. Sent an email, up to date no answer. Shocking service from the office at JB Tours. They were not interested in our serious complaint. Secondly, my friend's name was booked incorrectly at SAFAIR, once again incompetence from JB Tours. I will not recommend this company to anybody. Their arrogance is undesired ! Poor, poor poor!

I booked and paid for a tour only to be informed the next day that the tour was fully booked and was promised that my money would be refunded, Subsequently i received emails from them where the same"full" tour was advertised ????Now almost 2 weeks later and after numerous phone calls and listening to sweet promises there is still no sign of a refund in my account. The question to be asked is if they are advertising tours that are already full to get payment and keep stalling the refund on purpose or is it simple bad management and administration?

My self and two young daughters took the last 2018 programme tour-CT #16 from Jhb to Cape Town and my contact at the JB office was Tannie Gerda- she was honest in answering my queries and giving me advice and was also very patient with my many questions and I appreciated that. My questions included as a black mother with two children will i not feel discriminated against? What to take on the train? What I will be paying for on the trip? And the tour guide Oom Jaco was the BEST!!! he was communicating the whole time. before we got to the station to board the train; at the train station he was helpful and had all our details. Throughout the trip I felt safe and knew and felt that i had a guide. He answered ALL questions and his patience was amazing. Am going on another tour again later in the year. I am confident to recommend them to my friends, clients and family. The tour was AMAZING and i experienced Cape Town from another angle and it was affordable and a beautiful experience. Thank you JB Tours.

My wife and I recently booked a train journey through JB Train tours to the KKNK at Oudtshoorn, my review is as follows;

The train going to Beauford West; When we got to the Johannesburg station the train was standing on the platform, we were 2 hours before departure on the train. Our compartment was absolutely discussing dirty. The floor the walls the windows everything was disgusting, even snot on the walls. JB Tours know which compartments was booked out on their name. Why did the not inspect the compartments or send in a cleaning team to clean. The toilets did not work, the lights in the toilets did not work.
At Beaufort West we got off the train that was 2 hours late on to a bus organised and paid for by JB Tours. I have never ever seen a more discussing dirty and unroadworthy bus in my live. 60% of the bus seats where totally lose. The seats where disgustingly dirty, with bird droppings on the seats and floor even the centre drivers mirror was full of bird droppings.
Our way back after the KKNK on the same bus in the same state, we waited for 3hours for the train.
On the train at night time there was no food no drinks.
The train journey back was discussing with no water no electricity no flushing toilets.
The train back was only 9 hours late. 9 Hours in a train were the smell of stinking toilets.

This was our first and most definitely our last time with JB Tours.

This is a long story, so disappointed in the false advertising of Jb tours, but worse we only had 3 days in Cape supposedly to see the flowers, their Premier train only ran from 27th July to 3 Rd of Aug also apparently too early, their bus overheated on the middle of nowhere, and for 5 hrs we sat on the side of the road waiting for a bus from Cape Town, NO APOLOGIES NOR COMPENSATION FROM THE company, when I wrote to the company they had a sarcastic reply to everything, including reporting to you.
