Failure to complete work, absconding with deposit

JD Tiling and Renovations (Koos Oosthuizen) was contracted to do work at our complex in November last year. Work commenced in February with over R40000 being paid to them as a deposit. To date the work has not been completed and they have left a deep hole uncovered in the middle of the complex driveway that poses a risk to our children as well as the fact that the one unit cannot use their garage. Koos is non-responsive to calls and messages and has in principle run off with the money. A stern word of caution when looking at this contractor and this is evident in his invoicing that it has come to light he has no VAT number or even a company registration. Be Warned.
