This refers to the review posted on 14 December at 22:55 by Mr. Bulelani M. about them refusing to fix the damages with the tenant's deposit. I am the tenant who occupied the unit for five years, and I share the same unfortunate experience. Despite my long tenancy, I did not receive a single cent back from my deposit. During my stay, the property was never properly maintained, and I had to personally handle many repairs and issues at my own cost. What is most concerning is that, upon vacating, I was presented with an inflated quotation demanding that I contribute my R7,000 deposit plus additional funds to cover supposed repairs. This is unreasonable, especially given the lack of maintenance throughout my tenancy and the fact that much of the upkeep was already managed by me. I believe this practice is unfair and exploitative, and it highlights the need for greater accountability in how deposits are handled and how landlords maintain their properties.

I recently have a bad experience with this company. We moved out about a month ago and we still have not received our deposit they keep going around in circles, not only that but somehow their maintenance costs the entire deposit amount over 9K of charges that don’t even make sense most of them being wear and tear or things we found that way even stated in the incoming inspection. They refuse to cooperate and so housing tribunal is the next step as money does not grow on trees.

At first, we managed our family property business (Hollywood Properties Pty Ltd) ourselves and struggled a lot with arrears from tenants and maintenance and repairs. When we engaged the services of John Lee Properties, we got peace of mind, their marketing for new tenants, contracting, dealing with body corporates and property maintenance is fast and highly professional. The agents are easily accessible to the tenants and they go above and beyond in attending to tenants' needs. Now we can rest assured that with John Lee Properties, our property business is in good hands, and for that, we are very grateful. I salute the John Lee Properties Team. L.M Dlulane

Please do not make the mistake of renting with this agent especially at LA MON VILLA Complex in Montana. They will charge you ridiculous fees, they will take two months to refund you your deposit and they will try by all means to make sure they give you back a small amount of your deposit. They charge things like out of inspection fee! Is that even legal? I regret it so much. Never ever again!!!!

Moving out of a property leased by these guys and I was practically thrown out. The agent, David, told me move all my stuff out the flat without any prior communication. I had to organize overnight storage, and transport and find a place to sleep because the agent was busy in the last day of the month. Also signing a lease with them is such a schlep, you have to go to their offices which are not conveniently located at all. Avoid this agency, you're just a payment to them.
