Yesterday, I asked the staff at the Bayside Mall Kase artist stand to quote me on a screen protector for my new phone. Without asking my permission, the man took my phoneinstalled a screen protector and then asked me to pay R799. This is outrageous pricing and while he tried to explain away that it was a 3 layer privacy protector, I did not agree to it, nor could I afford it. I repeatedly asked for the price when his back was turned, loudly, so he cannot say he didnt hear me. He tried telling me he didnt understand me. I speak clear, eloquent English. He tried to haggle with me relentlessly when I asked him to remove the protector I didnt ask for, and kept arguing with me. I have previously had a screen protector done the week before, for R199. I had to call centre management and security, and threaten to call SAPS (the police) and when he saw I was serious and that 8 security guards were on their way, he told me I could tap my card and pay the same price I paid last week. This is unacceptable behavior and sales techniques. I tried reaching out to the owner and the phone number doesnt exist. I sent whatsapps to the cell listed on their website - same response. Its shocking and I will boycott the stand and raise awareness in the area about this incident. How many other people are they trying this tactic with ? I will not bul**** by a salesperson !!
