Hi

I am so upset about the after sales service I received from Katay, I have decided to take to Hello Peter for the frst time. Just to warn people that a boat can cost more than expected if things go wrong and there is a lack of professional and fair after sales service.

After purchasing a boat for over half a million rand from the company, I had an issue by what seemed to be an oil leak. The man at Waterworld advised me I should not be buying so much oil and I should get the boat checked before my general 6 month warrenty expired.

After I asked Katay to come and check (which took over a month) and I stated I believed it was a warrenty claim. They towed the boat back to their premises after inspection (even that was done after stripping my trailer tyre, but to be fair they replaced) and once they had it in the store they told me the warrenty was never 6 months (an industry norm?) and the reservior had perished. This was for my cost, although I had bought the boat not six months before. And ended up saying to me its like a second hand car, things happen.

Just the unhelpful attitude and lack of fairness leaves a bad taste, they did not even try and meet us half way. They charged full price for the repairs, labour and also wanted to charge a R1200 transport costs, which was quite a shock. When we had purchased the boat we had asked about annual services and what the costs to get the boat to them would be, and were told thats was a service that they offer as they like to build long term relationships with their customers.

Just sad that I will not encourage anyone to buy a boat from them as their after sales service was so disappointing, although I will say their one staff member was as expectionally helpful, although it would seem his hands were tied.
