Unfortunely there isnt a minus rating on here Took my Boat to them to sell, they advertised it for an insanely higher price than we had agreed on and falsely advertised that it had extras/features that it didnt. When it didnt sell for obvious reasons, i then asked them to repair the Trim n' tilt switch and let me know when it was ready for collection. Upon receiving collection notice i drove there (400km), only to find that the boat wasnt ready, the trailer lights were not connected (which they were when i took it there) and both my covers (hull & Motor) were missing. They charged me R2,500.00 for the trim n' tilt (which still didnt work) and i subsequently had the switch replaced with a good 2nd hand unit for R800.00 (inclusive of labour). Luke's attitude stank to high-heaven and he acted like he was the king of the world. I would not recommend Katay to anybody as they are absofrikkinlutely USELESS.

I went there to try to get my jetski sold. Luke took it and said he would evaluate it over the weekend, and then let me know. He never got back to me, and the following week, I saw it listed on Facebook Marketplace without any communication from him. That was fine, as I wanted it sold, but I was confused as to why he never updated me about the so-called evaluation. I then called him for an update and told him that I wanted it sold, advising him not to linger on that price for long. He said he was just testing the market and would drop the price the next week. Five weeks went by with no word from Luke, the same ad, same price. I called him on a Friday morning to say, "Please just get the thing sold; I am not fazed by the price," to which he responded, "No problem, I will get a fresh ad out over the weekend." The following Monday, still no word from Luke, and the ad remained unchanged, with the same price. This has been an extremely disappointing experience for me, however, Luke did reach out to me to apologise.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND, rather go to GUS Marine, UB Leisure, Leisure Marine or Waterworld - I went there to try to get my jetski sold. I would never purchase anything from them, rather go to the other place which I mentioned above.

Bought a boat from Katay, troubles started before I reached home with it! Trailer lights failed, had to rewire. Next I found trailer badly rusted, had to reweld, then trailer bearings had water in them, Katay claimed they were serviced, I had to service. Next was first outing on the dam! Fuel tank had gunk, boat wouldn't go, had to clean. Next wrong spark plugs in the engine, and zero fuses at all on the engine. Next I wanted to fit new fish finder transducer, discovered water in the transom! Returned the boat for warranty repair, on getting the boat back I found nothing was done! So return it again. Katay now claimed nothing wrong despite my pictures of the water pouring out of the transom! Had enough demanded refund, they refused. Had to get the Motor Industry Ombudsman involved, they ruled in my flavor, and I got refund, but still Katay had the cheek to deduct for so called repairs to investigate transom water ingress! I lost a lot of money on this deal DEFINITLY DO NOT RECOMEND 😠

Bought a boat from Katay racing in January 2022. Bad service received. The boat couldnt be transported as the outboard had issues. This was never mentioned to ne before buying it. Needed a bow cover made and fitted. Sales rep very eager to sell me one. Once fitted it seemed wrinkled. When I told him it looks wrinkled and sagging he said I should put piece of wood under it to tighten it. That didnt sound good. They redone it but still a stud in center which doesnt make any sense. The Original boat cover was confirmed to be in boat before delivery ( proof on Whatsapp of all mentioned issues and discussions) also not received. Later to be told they disxard it. Never was I asked or did I mentioned to do that. And I was told that if is what it is and Katay cant do anything about that. Not to sure if there was a cover or was it sold off. Trailer papers also was confirmed to be in boat but was never received. Sales rep does not read my Whatsapps or answer any calls.

Would definitely not recommend this company. The after sales is not great at all. Waited forever for my papers of the bike to arrive. The seals of the bike was leaking which came down to how the bike was transported down. Was first told the bike was sold with a 6 month warranty, to be told it wasn’t sold with a warranty to then being said it’s a 3 month standard warranty. Definitely made the mistake of not questioning the length of warranty or reading the fine print which I’ve made peace with. The bike didn’t even last 5000km and developed a noise on the motor. Didn’t use the bike as an everyday commute, only weekends. I’ve been told that they have people in Cape Town to assess if things go wrong, now I’ve been told to transport the bike up on my expense which I don’t get as it was reiterated via a voice note that they have people in Cape Town should something happen. I’ve accepted that they won’t and are not liable for any payments to fix the knock on the motor, just want to highlight my experience with the company as it was not an enjoyable experience, including the guy I was dealing with and out of respect I won’t be mentioning his name, even though he mentioned “ I can make all the threats I want” when all I mentioned is that I will be highlighting my experience on this platform which I have a right to do so. It was just a horrible experience from the get go.

Hi

I am so upset about the after sales service I received from Katay, I have decided to take to Hello Peter for the frst time. Just to warn people that a boat can cost more than expected if things go wrong and there is a lack of professional and fair after sales service.

After purchasing a boat for over half a million rand from the company, I had an issue by what seemed to be an oil leak. The man at Waterworld advised me I should not be buying so much oil and I should get the boat checked before my general 6 month warrenty expired.

After I asked Katay to come and check (which took over a month) and I stated I believed it was a warrenty claim. They towed the boat back to their premises after inspection (even that was done after stripping my trailer tyre, but to be fair they replaced) and once they had it in the store they told me the warrenty was never 6 months (an industry norm?) and the reservior had perished. This was for my cost, although I had bought the boat not six months before. And ended up saying to me its like a second hand car, things happen.

Just the unhelpful attitude and lack of fairness leaves a bad taste, they did not even try and meet us half way. They charged full price for the repairs, labour and also wanted to charge a R1200 transport costs, which was quite a shock. When we had purchased the boat we had asked about annual services and what the costs to get the boat to them would be, and were told thats was a service that they offer as they like to build long term relationships with their customers.

Just sad that I will not encourage anyone to buy a boat from them as their after sales service was so disappointing, although I will say their one staff member was as expectionally helpful, although it would seem his hands were tied.
