Today marks 90 days, since I registered a complaint about water pooling up in front of our house, as a result of poor drainage on the road. There is an existing gutter running underneath the road and I can fix the problem myself, but it will be *******, as the road belongs to the municipality. (Governed by the DA) After I registered said complaint, I received ticket no 18912 and was informed that the problem would receive the necessary attention. On 24 July, I contacted our mayor, Mr Hattingh Bornman via WhatsApp and informed him about our problem and sent pictures of said problem. He responded and asked me to send him an email in this regard and said that he would look into it. Up until today, nothing has been done and I haven't even seen a municipal vehicle, where we live, I'm Paradise Beach. Our problem got worse, as we are now sitting with rising damp in our home and paint is starting to blister as a result. I've sent the Municipality and Mr Bornman another email, with pictures of damage attached. Never received an answer from our "honourable" mayor. As a ratepayer, surely I deserve service from our Municipality.
It's always before local elections that they make promises about service delivery and a better life for all, but as soon as they get elected, the voters mean nothing.
They will never get my vote again and it looks like the only option left is to get legal support in order to make them accountable?
