Do not deal with LDR Engines and Gearboxes Cape Town.
On 7 August 2025, I was quoted on an engine by Divan, who sent me pictures of three engines (marked 1, 2, and 3). I forwarded these to my customer for approval, and the customer confirmed they were happy with the specific engine shown.
On 19 August, I contacted Divan to confirm that the customer had paid and wanted to proceed with the purchase. As Divan was unavailable, I spoke with Kouthar, sent her all previous chats and pictures from Divan, and confirmed that we would like to pay for the same engine quoted. A quote was issued, and payment was made.
However, when the engine was delivered to my shop on 27 August, it was not the same engine we had agreed upon. The delivered engine (with a brown, rusty appearance) was completely different from what was quoted and approved. When I queried this, I was informed that the original engine Divan quoted on had been sold — but I was only told this after delivery, not before.
LDR Engines then took it upon themselves to send me a replacement engine that I did not purchase or approve. I have recorded telephone conversations confirming that Divan promised to sort the issue out. However, instead of resolving the matter fairly, LDR Engines is now demanding that I pay a 15% handling fee and additional courier costs for the engines — despite the fact that the mistake was entirely on their side.
If I had been informed upfront that the quoted engine had been sold, or if I had been shown the actual engines available (which I’ve now attached to this complaint), I would never have proceeded with the purchase.
This company unilaterally sent an engine I did not buy, and is now trying to hold me liable for their own error. Proceed with caution — this is not how honest, transparent business is done.
