LDR Engines and Gearboxes
Based on recent customer reviews, LDR Engines and Gearboxes faces significant criticism regarding the quality of engines sold, with numerous customers reporting faulty, damaged, or non-functional products upon delivery. Refund processes are described as extremely difficult, with prolonged delays and unresponsive management, particularly involving staff members Drikus, Romano, and Llewellyn. Customers also report being blamed for engine defects and incurring substantial additional costs for transport and installation. A small number of positive reviews highlight individual sales staff like Pedion and Wesley for efficient service and timely delivery, but these are heavily outweighed by negative experiences.

LDR Pretoria - Engines and Gearboxes sold me a damaged engine which smokes, has damaged valves and a damaged vanos. I spent over R8000 to fit the engine in my car, and now I asked them to replace it because they supp**** me with a damaged engine, they say they gonna charge me R7500 for labor and R2500 for service parts and it will take over 2 months. Worst part, their mechanic also gave me a wrong diagnosis of the car and I spent R3500 and it wasn't fixed. I asked for a refund they said they gonna take R4200 from my balance. I listed them the parts to repair the engine, they said they won't give me all those parts. I want my money back, they don't even test the engines they sell, they only do a compression test. I don't want another engine from this company 🚮

I l'm giving LDR Pretoria a 5 star rating. I've been in contact with a gentleman by the name of Pedion. He was extremely efficient with my order for a Hyundai G3LA engine. I had previously spoken to 2 different sales people but they didn't get back to me and then by God's Grace I somehow got into contact with Pedion. I spoke to him yesterday on the 4th of November 2025, made the payment and today the 5th of November 2025 the engine was at my place of residence at 11:17. I recommend LDR Pretoria to anyone looking for an engine. I call them and ask for Pedion. I would like to thank him once again. He won't let you down. Give that man a Bells. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks Anthony 0626082001

I bought an engine for my Mercedes 220d for R95000. The engine had problems from the start. LDR engines said they will assist but I must bring the car at my own cost which was not cheap since I am 500 kilometers away from LDR engines. LDR mechanic said it was sensor problems and I have replaced them at my own cost. The engines is still having the same problems as it was from start up. The engine is still under warranty. My advice is don't do businesses with LDR engines.

Worse company to buy your engine! They sell faulty engines and try by all means to blame it on you should you need your refund. They do not care about you after they see money reflecting on their account. From salespeople to manager! Drikus, Dillan and Romano to be specific. This is the worst company ever! Please do not tempt to buy your engine there! I honestly hate them to the core. Spent whole R58 850 and all drown to drain.

Do not deal with LDR Engines and Gearboxes Cape Town. On 7 August 2025, I was quoted on an engine by Divan, who sent me pictures of three engines (marked 1, 2, and 3). I forwarded these to my customer for approval, and the customer confirmed they were happy with the specific engine shown. On 19 August, I contacted Divan to confirm that the customer had paid and wanted to proceed with the purchase. As Divan was unavailable, I spoke with Kouthar, sent her all previous chats and pictures from Divan, and confirmed that we would like to pay for the same engine quoted. A quote was issued, and payment was made. However, when the engine was delivered to my shop on 27 August, it was not the same engine we had agreed upon. The delivered engine (with a brown, rusty appearance) was completely different from what was quoted and approved. When I queried this, I was informed that the original engine Divan quoted on had been sold — but I was only told this after delivery, not before. LDR Engines then took it upon themselves to send me a replacement engine that I did not purchase or approve. I have recorded telephone conversations confirming that Divan promised to sort the issue out. However, instead of resolving the matter fairly, LDR Engines is now demanding that I pay a 15% handling fee and additional courier costs for the engines — despite the fact that the mistake was entirely on their side. If I had been informed upfront that the quoted engine had been sold, or if I had been shown the actual engines available (which I’ve now attached to this complaint), I would never have proceeded with the purchase. This company unilaterally sent an engine I did not buy, and is now trying to hold me liable for their own error. Proceed with caution — this is not how honest, transparent business is done.

Sold me an engine for R48 500 first one overheated as my mechanic installed it - we returned it and had to wait 7 days for another engine . The 2nd one arrived and we installed it and 3 days in it started giving us issues !! Returned it. Nathan the owner assured me a speedy resolution it’s been 4 weeks and I’m still waiting They sell damaged engines and expect us to fix them after giving them thousands of rands ! Besides the R48 500 spent on a dysfunctional engine I have spent well over R20 000 renting bakkies etc ! Very disappointing service and attitude from Nathan !
