Mr Phillip Marks re-coloured and restored my 3-2-1 leather set in April 2023. Originally it was the wrong colour and he had to redo it - he first tried and hoped I would take the set as is at a discounted price - NO thank you - do what you were asked to do and PAID for! When I went to look at the set at his premises I asked him why the colour looks if it is 'on top' and will come off/peel eventually - he said I would not have been in business for 12/15 years if this was the case. Not even 2 months after delivery the colour starts peeling. We've been on whatsapp discussions (photos included) since Aug 2023 and he stopped communicating and blocked me since July 2024 as he is also not answering any phone calls on both mobile and office. Initially, he was very responsive and promised many times to sort out this mess. He is also not responding to emails. I do not throw R20k in the water due to someone else's inability to do proper workmanship. He will meet with me again via an adequate channel which he can't ignore and will cost him much more! STAY AWAY from him and his business - he promises you the moon, the stars and everything in between without any deliveries. He also did not respond to my Google review.

I’m writing another review to let people know that Leather Aide still owes me money months after they failed to deliver on my job. Phillip said in July he will refund me within 2 weeks and it is now 8 weeks later he has not bothered to refund me.

I am fighting to get my R5000 money back from Leather Aid which they are avoiding my calls following them collecting my couch for nearly 9 weeks for restorations and it was dumped in their Joburg container while they told me it was finished. Everyday they gave me excuses on delivery for weeks such that I had to go to the police and I was able to get the couch and send it to another company. Phillip said he would refund my money back but he has since blocked my calls and not answering my messages. No one in their office is responding to my concerns.

Don't be fooled by some of the positive reviews from this company. They are crooks. Avoid Leather Aid at all costs. It doesn’t matter how desperate you are but never give them a job. I commissioned Phillip 9 weeks ago and paid him full. The first excuse was the collection of the leather couch for restoration. The second excuse was load-shedding, and the third excuse was him being at a dentist and didn’t take calls for a week. Another excuse was that he uses third parties- information he didn’t divulge to me when I commissioned the job. 9 weeks later my couch is not back and I’ve opened a police case. The police spoke to him. He doesn’t even seem to realise his flaws but thinks I’m unreasonable to demand a couch that’s been 9 weeks out of the house for a job he promised would take 1 week. His employees are also rude and they speak over you as a clients. As far as I’m concerned I’ll never give him business nor recommend him. Sadly I saw reviews after my couch was taken, else I would not have given them business in the first place.

Had the most wonderful experience dealing with Leather Aid. I was not sure whether to just replace my 2 worn leather couches or have them repaired and dyed. I decided to contact Phill at Leather Aid and he was very professional and highly skilled in the do's and dont's based on the condition of my leather couches. Thanks to Phil and he's team I was able to get both my sofa's back looking as good as new for a fraction of the replacement cost. I am certainly not one to write reviews but I had to make a mention for Philip @ Leather Aid. Keep doing what you do and thank you for a job well done!!

<div>Phillip Marks worked for leather guard previously He is now working for leather aid He took my couches for cleaning when he worked at leather guard stating he knew all about leather He never even saw the couches just a picture ! Charged me R6000 this was in 2019 when the couches were returned they were in a bad way The leather was very different and looked as if reupholstered the person who made the couches and a leather expert I had in to asses said the couches were ruined and could never be restored to how they wee previously They were a Zambesi leather and were treated incorrectly Phil Marks was notified He collected the couches to "fix " them in 2020 according to the experts this as impossible He has been reported to the consumer council He did not even return the messed up couches and ignored me and blocked my calls He has a case number for theft at the police station The couches have never been seen again! He had promised to reimburse me up to 2021 but nothing was forthcoming He lied to the consumer council and to me that he has no job and hence cannot pay me but He is working at leather aid in Cape Town Whoever deals with leather aid please avoid dealing with Phillip Marks !</div>
