Please do not use their services. Not even in an emergency situation.
I got in touch with their admin office and explained to them I had an emergency situation and required a quote. They told me that they were available and would send a locksmith out asap who would quote me with the cost of labour and material prior to starting on the work. If we did not accept the quote, we could pay the R190 call-out fee and call it a day.
The locksmith they sent through, Juan, came over intoxicated and incoherent. He kept up a very confusing conversation and asked many questions that were not related to the job at hand. He was vulgar and kept trying to scare us into thinking he was not afraid of being violent when a situation called for it. He also continuously invaded our privacy by insisting on walking through the house despite us not needing his assistance on security or other services. We simply wanted a quote on how much it would cost to change the lock. During that time, while he was disruptive and walking through our home, he also went outside several times to get tools and keenly remind us that he is carrying a firearm and he is not afraid of using it. He proceeded to remove our old lock and installed his own as a demonstration of how strong his lock was.
Thereafter, he started suggesting that we should rather use his services directly instead of working with his company. That way he could give us better rates as the office rates were very expensive. He then said that he would initially charge us R3900 for the job but because of our trauma, he would discount it to R2700. After seeing how distressed we were with this ridiculous fee, he discounted further to R2300. We informed him from the onset that we had just gone through a traumatic incident and required a quote so that we could see how best to resolve our issue not that we wanted him to come over and do the work.
Instead of listening and calmly engaging us, he intentionally took advantage of us by demanding that we pay him for the work and petrol it cost for him to respond to our call. Furthermore, he refused us from calling the office to get clarity on the misunderstanding. When we insisted, he also got on a call and started reporting us to his alleged manager. Once things had calmed down, the office left it to us to negotiate how much we would be willing to pay for the job. We reiterated that we had no intention of paying for more than the call out fee as we were clear that we could not afford any exorbitant prices as we only wanted a quote to assess whether we could afford for the work to be done or find an alternative solution.
He not only refused to listen, he kept cutting us off to answer other calls. He went on to state that he had another very expensive job waiting for him and we were wasting his time. We offered him R300 as our final offer as that is all we could afford and he agreed to that but he still wanted us to make a plan for the R2000. We told him he could leave and attend to the other job and then we could continue our negotiations after he was done with the pressing job request. He refused and insisted that we must agree to his terms of paying him R2300 or he would not leave. During this time, he went back to his car twice as a way of attempting to intimidate us with his concealed firearm. We refused to be intimidated and stated that we would pay him the R300 and we would see if it would be possible to raise anything further.
We informed him this morning when he called that we cannot afford his R2000 fee and with that he started threatening me over the call. He also sent a voice note trying to paint us out to be the bad guys for not wanting to pay him for an honest job. There was absolutely nothing honest about the way he operates in business.
Please be very careful before you let him into your home or accept a quote from their business.
