We had the best time, until a group checked in. Our room was close to the Boma where they had parties for 2 nights in a row. We complained multiple times, but nothing was done about the noise, as they were a group. Would not recommend, especially if you are individuals. I would expect better for the price you pay to be there

I've been going to Mabula since I was 7, I'm now 43 years old. I have seen it go though better and worst. But this time around something has really gone wrong. Let me start with the positive. Modjadji camp entertainment area look great and when I got injured they were really helpful with medical attention. But the negative, the room or units look really bad, I knead of serious maintenance and make over. The fridge wasn't working (they came to fix but still didn't work), smell from the sink, so called alarm on doors not working and instructions on how to use safe was so faded couldn't use it. The units was dirty and untidy, water bottles standing around, dust in cupboards and spiderwebs where spiderwebs should not be. The game drive units was a major let down on how many people from a unit can attend per day as due to the past, and the biggest disappointment was the main lodge. The fact that timeshare guest can't use the swimming pool is unacceptable, our money is just as good as hotel guest. They must consider timeshare guest to be low class. The lodge itself doesn't even feel like your in the bush, so plain and dull as than the look and feel in the past. The crime rate that is also present there at the moment is a big concern and some form of security must be implemented, I know its difficult being that unit are apart but something has to happen. Can't sleep in fear when on holiday. If they can attend with poachers they can surely resolve the crime aliment. Please I urge you to address these concern to make this place magical once again.

This place will never see us again. We got ****** during our second night. Over R150 000 worth of digital and electronic devices were ******. Phones, cameras, laptops, and wallets. The stuff were right next to our beds. How safe are a person in those units? They could have ******ed our whole group. Only person we could get hold of at the main lodge area was a Mr Ivan Killian, and he's the most rude, arrogant person I ever met. My colleague eventually got hold of the Rooiberg police and they arrived 3 hours later. And then we still had to wait 7 hours for a Forensic team from somewhere to take finger prints. Zero assistance from anyone from Mabula. Some baldheaded guy hung around a bit, something to do with Security and Anti poaching, but he was also utter useless and clueless. It's supposed to be a starred lodge but there is no Security. One of these nice days, someone might get ******ed or ****d. We still haven't heard anything from Mabula Management or any of the people that hung around there like a wet ****. I personally will get the word out that Mabula should be avoided.

Do not visit Mabula Lodge ever. Please take good advice. It is poorly and unprofessionally administered. Staff are *********** and worthless, and the service is typically 3rd world, and the personnel are not capable and/or caring neither providing prompt and decent service. It was found that cutlery and plates on tables were incomplete and missing. We had to ask for tables to be adequately dressed which made staff disgruntled and took long for them to do. The main problem is theft and crime. Chances of you being ********ized in your room is excellent. The ********s and those *****ing have access to keys and is clearly an inside job. The Mabula Lodge management are useless and reluctant to take this matter seriously and actually apparently do not care. They are perhaps even in cahoots with the burglars. Theie c0-oipewration with burglaries is almost non-existent extremely poor. They do not follow up on the regular theft of visitors and make false promises. This is one place that you should stay away from if you care for your belongings and prefer not to be burglarized, and prefer decent service.

Our stay at Mabula Lodge has been nothing short of a disaster. It’s Christmas Eve, and we’ve had to endure half a day without water followed by over 30 hours without power. This is completely unacceptable, especially during what’s supposed to be a festive and relaxing holiday. The lack of communication from the management team has only made things worse. Whenever we ask for updates, we’re brushed off with a vague, “We are working on it.” Meanwhile, all our meat has gone off, and we’re left scrambling to figure out what to eat for the next three days (over R5 000 worth of meat purchased as we are a family of 8). To add to our frustration, we were told complimentary coffee was available at the reception as compensation. But the reception is over 20 minutes away, and they didn’t even offer us flasks to bring hot water back. On top of that, there’s nowhere to sit and enjoy the coffee since we’re prohibited from accessing the main lodge. Speaking of the main lodge—reserved for high-paying and mostly international guests—it’s fully equipped with solar and generator power. Yet, as timeshare guests (over 200 of us), we’ve been denied access to charge our devices, use the restaurant, or swim in the pool. This blatant disregard for timeshare guests feels rude and completely unaccommodating, especially given our high yearly fee. We haven’t been able to shower due to the lack of hot water, and when we tried to buy ice to salvage our food, the on-site shop informed us they had none and didn’t know when they’d restock. This experience has left us feeling abandoned and undervalued. Mabula Lodge needs to seriously rethink how they manage such situations and treat their guests, especially during peak holiday times. I cannot recommend this lodge to anyone based on the appalling service, lack of basic amenities, and the unacceptable way they’ve handled this situation.

I should actually not reveal the secret to all, but at Bush Time @ Mabula, you really are treated well. The bangalos are modern and equiped (just needs an aircon!). The guides are informed and friendly. And lastly, the animals... Thank you to the maintenance team who assisted us when we had issues with our Venter's jockey wheel, you are stars. From the Welcome Braai, to the Thursday Tea and talk, the clean public areas. It was all just fabulous!

I saw the post of Mabula Game Lodge about the ******* and just want to add that we were there this weekend and the same happened to us. We were three units next to one another that were ****** of cellphones and handbags (next to our bed (while we were sleeping. So scary to think that everyone warns you about the big five and it is not even safe to go for a walk but they don't warn you about the ******ies and your safety. Worst is that the management team only came for a brief few seconds to find out what happened, then disappeared. They did not even bother to ask if we were okay or that they were doing something about this.

We booked this past weekend at MabuIa Lodge and I feel that people should be made aware of the following about our stay at Bushtime at Mabula. Unfortunately, Bushtime at Mabula is not safe, won't go there again, we were ****** while sleeping at night and lost approx. R280 000.00 in phones, cameras, jewellery, wallets, bags, jackets and speakers, very scary to think they were next to our beds, we thank God nobody was hurt, apparently this happens frequently and we would have liked to be informed to switch on alarms at the top of doors, we did not notice them, we were on a break and did not inspect anything with regards to safety, did lock the doors when went to bed and did not know that they were a crime issue at Mabula. It was not a pleasant experience, we are all very distressed with this experience.
