MC Van Der Berg Attorneys - Not for first time buyers or sellers
Guys, if you ever need to buy or sell a house in PTA - stay clear of these people, especially if you are a new buyer of seller. The lawyers are so dismissive and rude, you have to constantly follow up with them to find out what must happen next - I know you emailed me, but I dont know what all of this means! Must I also now go study your laws?? Compared to the legal team that assisted me in buying the house, the MC guys who helped me sell it were absolutely terrible.

5 months still no lodgement
I'm on the 5th month now, property lodgement still not done. I was told it would take 3 months. I then served 2 months notice where I was renting and I had to tell employees to stay at home until the process is done. It is such an inconvenience, business is on pause due to this. What a terrible experience

Buying a home is not easy with MC Van Der Berg Attorneys
<p>Transfer and sales of my new home was handled by MC van Der Berg. Correspondance was a nightmare from the start, as my information was send incorrectly and I received correspondance intended for the seller. I delt with a number of people of which the roles was not clarified. I was never contacted directly, always emails which made communication difficult.</p> <p>They placed me in a position where I was homeless for a month due to them changing timelines which they previously confirmed. When it was highlighted, they refuse to accept responsibility and was not willing at all to help, I was left to my own devises.</p> <p>The property was altered by the previous owner whereby the garage was converted into a living space, the unit had cardboard added as well as the braai area enclosed. All of which required building plans and Body Corporate approvals. I have requested on numerous occasions for these, to no avail. I am now in a possition whereby I am harrased by the current Body Corporate for the approvals and nothing forthcomming from MC van der Berg.</p> <p>I will not recommend their services be used.</p> <p> </p>

NO REFUND SINCE 17 JUNE 2014

I sold my property and transfer took place on 17 June 2014. MC VAN DER BERG ATTORNEYS were appointed and did the transfer. They received their fee on the 30th of June. Since then I have been battling to get them to refund me the funds owed for paying the Tshwane municipality in advance. They keep giving me the run around, saying I can pay extra to have things expedited, and then that the city only issues 3 refund cheques per day, and the 2 months ago that the refund will be issued shortly. Nothing received. So if you ever think of appointing attorneys, USE SOMEONE ELSE!

Great Service from Attorneys
6 years ago I sold my house, and the above company dealt with the transfer and sale of the property. About a month ago I get a call from a debt collection company (on behalf of Tshwane) saying that I owe outstanding rates of R27,000. Unfortunately I have no documents regarding the sale of the house, since I moved countries. I managed to remember the name of the attorneys as above and popped them an email. The next day I received all the transfer documents of the house, the OTP, and rates clearance cert etc, they had kept it all on record. Not only that, Lizette who was dealing with it, popped me an email the following day after receiving the docs, saying that she had been to the Tshwane offices, got them to correct and change all the records to the new owners name, who has not paid the rates since taking ownership of the property. And today I received confirmation of all the records being updated on Tshwane's side. To have service like this is brilliant. I can only commend Lizette Henning at MC VAN DER BERG's for outstanding service.
