I would like to lodge a complaint against my gap policy; I submitted a claim in October for an incident that happened in September. The service received was terrible also the company changed the policy terms and conditions, and I was not updated or sent updated policy documents advising of changes to new exclusions on the policy. When I accepted the policy in 2019, I was not advised that ward or theatres costs won’t be included or covered under my gap cover. I only received policy documents when I submitted the claim. I also claimed in august for an incident with my daughter being treated in the trauma unit for a major cut that resulted in her getting stitches and was told in august it wouldn’t be covered. But when I called to enquire on my recent claim for my incident that I experienced a miscarriage on the 12th of September 2025 I was then told they have settled my previous claim and are making payment of plus minis R200. I logged a complaint with the manager and the complaints department at gap, and they have just told me its not covered as per the new updated exclusions. I’m not happy with this decision as this isn’t treating clients fairly or being transparent in their exclusions. I was not notified of any new exclusions, I was only aware that should I be admitted in hospital and if my medical aid doesn’t cover hospital or doctors’ full costs it will be covered by the gap cover.

I have been in Hospital 26 June 24 to date MedExpense is running away in paying my co payment. I have been e mailing calling I come through a different person each time running my story pass them and until today they are so calling investigating my claim. My name is going to be tarnished by them if I do not get these bills paid. Hippo Advisory services that sold me this cover is also quiet now and I just had enough. One of them needs to pay the invoices. I need assistance please

Their constant demands for documentation discourages clients and I have paid them since 2021 without an opportunity to claim. They fail to make claims easy, frustrating the clients, medical aid and hospital because documentation is repetitive, forcing me to cancel even before my first claim

This company promises the moon and stars, but when it comes to a claim they fined any reason not to pay. Then you did not send all the documents, then they are not happy with the documents you send. They are rood and unkind over the phone as if I am below them. I had to make a load to pay my access at the doctors because I struggle with them. No that is some kind of service no one wants.

I am really disgusted that I pay a high premium for Gap cover however the service delivery is a joke. I provide all relevant documentation and they always want more. Stalling tactic so as not to pay the member. Why is this I ask myself is it perhaps because they have money issues. Im not impressed.

I am starting to question why I have this policy. I am not benefiting from anything at all. It is always a no-reply email address and email address return. Not too sure if this is a ****.

i had a medical surgery done on the 7th of February 2023 at wilgeheuwel hospital where my medical aid didnt cover the full expense, the medical aid didnt pay the full amount to the anaesthetist after receiving an invoice i proceed to send it through to my gap cover as i have been paying for almost the last 2 years and have never used them. This is the first time im using them and what a disappointment after 2 months they still have not settled the amount with the specialist and not the specialist wants to take legal actions against me for not paying the outstanding amount. NOBODY MUST EVER EVER GO AND SIGN UP WITH MedExpense Gap Cover they are the most useless company ever as i have been sending them emails after emails and phone calls after phone calls with nobody even bother of coming back to me. i really wasted over 2 years of money paying for useless service. LISTEN TO MY ADVICE STAY AWAY FROM MEDEXPENSE GAP COVER
