My nightmare at Mekor Honda Cape Town
I First saw them advertising a Renault Duster 1.5 DCI 4X4 2015 Model, i had the exact same vehicle that was written off just months before the same kilos even the colour was the same (just a mention that i have something to compare the vehicle to)
I phoned them up to come and show me the vehicle, after a bit of back and forth they agreed to bring the vehicle to my work, when the vehicle arrived it was by looks alone in good condition (cosmetically) just prior to them showing me the vehicle they mentioned there was no problems on it at all and i asked what year the tyres was they said 2023
when the vehicle arrived the tyres was 2021 year (still is to this day), the seat was loose and the radio did not work, the sales rep said contradictingly based on the previous feedback that they are aware of it, and that they are also aware of the vehicle pulling to the left.
after a short test drive i said i will take the vehicle and within hours i sent them all of the information they needed to close the deal, they said it is most likely that i can get the vehicle the next day. and that's here it started. i only got the vehicle almost 2 weeks later (where i had to rent a vehicle while waiting on my expense) the reason the salesman said is for the repairs as mentioned above. my opinion they knew about the faults and should have sorted it before advertising it, anyway after the repairs above was done, and i finally had the vehicle, i noted the seat was still loose, they informed me they did not replace the fault they just welded the seat, according to me the seat is part of the vehicle safety, is it reasonable for them to just weld it on?
the radio was installed by a sub standard place so the hands free set does not work correctly, i took it back to the installer they just said what they think it might be and sent me on my was (with no fix)
the vehicle is still puling to the right, they said it might be the tyre pressure, LOL... i tjeked it was fine
so as one usually only notice faults when driving i brought the following to their attention
car Whistle sound, clutch shutter, reverse noises, steering noise when fully locked, vehicle gets about 2 to 3 km less per litre as my other vehicle as mentioned the same car etc.
so as they offer and told me they are responsible for the repairs as long as i report it within 3 months. i reported after a week of driving.
to arrange this i was speaking to the rep, who can never give me an answer on anything, but only say, let me speak to my manager and get back to me, sho just let me speak to him and you don't have to play middle man. (can the manager maybe contact me)
so anyway they said they have a look at the faults, but again the rep is on leave for 3 weeks, i have now been waiting almost 2 weeks with no way forward. it seems the reason is they don't have a vehicle for me to drive at the moment, as i said i am not willing to rent a vehicle on my own expense again.
but the way the other faults was addressed i am quite certain at this point their feedback to me will be they did not pick up the newly reported faults or some feedback similar. and i do think it might me major problems,
any advice out there, whom can i consult, can one possibly approach the ombudsman
