Purchased a new set of Nexen tyres which turned out to have defects and Mintys in Cresta refuse to refund or exchange them. After 3 attempts at balancing with Mintys, the tyres were taken to another tyre franchise with specialised RoadForce equipment (at my expense) to confirm that the tyres indeed had manufacturing defects and were hopping.
Firstly, Minty’s does not have the same equipment to test tyres professionally and constantly blame the wheels and car instead. They also rely on subjective drive tests to send a customer away and waste time, instead of acknowledging the fault - which has been objectively pointed out by the specialised equipment already. The tyres can also clearly be seen hopping on the balancing machine, which they refuse to acknowledge as an issue.
Their response is to come in yet again, do the balancing yet again, drive (at owners expense) for some time to check and then come back!
Avoid Nexen because the tyres are indeed *******. Avoid Minty's because they do not have the equipment to check tyres properly and have no concept of customer support and centricity.
