Avoid buying from Mutlu in Durbanville
Stay away from buying Mutlu batteries in Durbanville. The battery is still under warranty, as acknowledged by Mutlu, however I cannot produce the receipt as it is in a building which is currently closed due to the lockdown. During my first visit to Mutlu to report the dead battery they explained that the guarantee is in place and that they would need to test the battery to see if they can revive it. They promised a response in a 3 day period and that they would replace the battery if the tests showed that it was dead. Upon my return visit to them they explained that the battery is indeed faulty and has a dead cell. They confirmed that it is still under guarantee but now changed their story and insist that I produce the receipt. The owner of the company offered a 50% discount on a new battery. Given that the current battery is under their guarantee I declined the offer. To date this issue has still not been resolved and I'm without a battery.

20 Jan 2021, 12:28Good day Gail Firstly we would like to point out that we are the only Battery company that offers a 3YR guarantee on batteries but in order to offer this extended guarantee we require the client to comply with certain conditions.

20 Jan 2021, 12:311st to provide proof of purchase with the corresponding serial number indicated on the invoice, 2nd the Guarantee slip filled in which requires the battery to be checked every 12 months by us or any auto electrician to check that the clients vehicle charging properly and no draw on the vehicle

20 Jan 2021, 12:32Non of this was produced by the client. He was told that we cannot confirm the guarantee without at least a proof of purchase but we will still check, charge and test that battery and give him an outcome. according the date code of the battery it is more than 2 years old

20 Jan 2021, 12:33You don't need to send the guarantee slip to your accountant only the invoice so where is the guarantee slip? After not being able to produce any form of proof of purchase we still tried to offer you a compromise and offer you 50% discount on a new battery which you refused.

20 Jan 2021, 12:34I am truly sorry that you cannot understand that we have followed the consumer law and tried our best to help you. Lastly if you can produce the invoice more important guarantee slip with the correct information and proper periodical checks done we will still honour your guarantee.

20 Jan 2021, 15:13Our manager made effort to retrieve the proof of purchase on our records and informed the client we will replace the battery, despite him not meeting all criteria (he doesn't have the guarantee slip). Despite trying to assist him, he remains unhappy as he wants us to state he's correct & he's not.

20 Jan 2021, 20:46The empty promises and false allegations by Mutlu continue. After reporting me to Hello Peter as writing fictitious allegations and asking them to delete my review they concede that a battery was indeed purchased from them and that it is actually less than 2 years old. They kindly offered to honour the guarantee and to replace the battery. Upon arrival at their store to collect a copy of the invoice the owner of Mutlu became confrontational and indicated that he was in two minds as to whether or not he should release the new battery. They claim they need to first run tests and would consider releasing the battery in the morning.
Post this latest promise they write another erroneous reply stating that we want them to concede we're right. This was not the request. The request is very simple:
1. Honour the guarantee and replace the battery
2. Inform Hello Peter that this review is not fictitious!
Let's see what the new day brings.
