I bought a battery in January from AHK, Lansdowne, Cape Town. When I enquired about a replacement car (616) battery, they said they got various makes and they all similar. The cheapest at the time was MAXIBAT / Mutlu Battery. I also asked about the warranty process and the salesman told me that should I experience any issues with the battery, I can just return it and they will provide a loan battery while MUTLU (MAXIBAT/MUTLU Agents in Durbanville) inspect the battery. About 4 months later, the battery started giving issues where it just couldn't start the car if the car stood for one or two days. I even thought maybe the car is draining the battery. After taking the car to the auto-electrician, he inspected the car. They auto found not problem on the car and said the battery is faulty. I have then taken the battery back to AHK and enquired about the loan battery. They said they need to ask MUTLU for a loan battery and the process wasn't as seamless as I was told at the time of the initial purchase. The first battery they gave me was a dead battery and they then said I should pickup the second battery which was even worse and even looked physically damaged and was also dead. For a battery company, couldn't they even check the battery or do they not even care about their customers by wasting my time and causing lots of inconvenience. They then told me that the loan battery was a favour and they don't normally do it. This is contrary to what I was told when I bought the battery. The report said there is nothing wrong with the battery and they just charged it. Two months later the same thing happened with the same response. Another two months later I sent the battery back and the same response, they just charged the battery. This is really frustrating and I will no longer purchase a MAXIBAT/MUTLU and also AHK Motor Spares couldn't even help since I bought the battery from them. The warranty is coming to an end and the experience was really frustrating. A company with such bad business practice shouldn't be in business.

At Autoworks Strand, I use Mutlu batteries with confidence, in the past few years I have not had any issue with the Batteries. Normally the issues are from the alternators under charging, high resistance on charge supply cables, bad earth contacts or current draw issues from consumers. All these things should be checked when replacing the vehicle battery.

I bought a Mutlu battery from Durbanville Motor Spares the in Sept 2018. Battery comes with a 3 year guarantee. I had the battery tested when it was 24 months old and they provide free service. Wednesday the 20th January the car did not want to start. Put it on charge overnight, but nothing. Went to work and had it tested by an electronic at work who said the battery does not hold change. Got my invoice and took it in to Durbanville Motor spares where i bought it. they 1st check if the battery was tested on the 24 month cycle. The guy assisted me and explained how the guarantee work and the claims process. He removed my battery and provided me with a loan battery. The Saturday they called me to inform me that my battery will be replaced and that they will inform my on Monday when i can come and collect. I am very happy with the Service i received and will recommend them. Thank you Durbanville Motor Spares for your extraordinary service.

I believe it's rare that people take the time to actually write a positive review regarding any purchase made. I bought a mutlu battery over 2 years ago and absolutely love it! Due to simple reasons such as I have a sound system in my car that takes up a lot of power, yet the battery has never failed me. I can still up until today play music while my car is off for at least an hour and still be able to start my car on one swing(please note I have a 5000w amp and 1800w sub). I'd recommend it to anyone. Especially to all you Sound fanatics :)

Stay away from buying Mutlu batteries in Durbanville. The battery is still under warranty, as acknowledged by Mutlu, however I cannot produce the receipt as it is in a building which is currently closed due to the lockdown. During my first visit to Mutlu to report the dead battery they explained that the guarantee is in place and that they would need to test the battery to see if they can revive it. They promised a response in a 3 day period and that they would replace the battery if the tests showed that it was dead. Upon my return visit to them they explained that the battery is indeed faulty and has a dead cell. They confirmed that it is still under guarantee but now changed their story and insist that I produce the receipt. The owner of the company offered a 50% discount on a new battery. Given that the current battery is under their guarantee I declined the offer. To date this issue has still not been resolved and I'm without a battery.

Worked there for about 2 weeks and got paid on a weekly basis, in the first week I started the manager tested positive for corona virus but that whole week she told the staff she has bad asthma coughing in store yet they didnt close the store the following Thursday she came into work and told us she's clear but didn't go for the second test and wasn't really 10 - 14 days in lockdown. Me and a colleague got sent home that Thursday to get tested and before we left the boss told us we would get paid for the days we were sent home off for regardless the next day the manager asked me and the colleague if we could come into store to collect our weekly payment but when we got there she told us its unnecessary because she is going to ewallet us the money . Firstly they pay us short for the week secondly my colleague could pull his money but I couldn't when I tried calling the manager she ignored my calls and just read my messages and it went on like that for 2 weeks without getting paid. And her attitude alone she thinks she's better than everyone. Really not a good company to work at .

Please people. I would just like to say that I have bought a Mutlu car battery by Midas in Athlone. I have the battery for not even a 1 year and it started giving problems. I took the battery back to Midas. They sent it back to Mutlu SA for testing. It came back and they said the battery tested fine. The battery went flag again not to long after again. I had my polo 6 2011 at a auto to test if it's drawing current and the auto said no. This is costing me to drive up and down and they keep saying the battery is fine. The battery has been twice by mutlu now. This is very frustrating. Don't buy mutlu batteries people. They are rubbish batteries.
