Disappointed service Subject: Urgent Complaint: Water Burst Pipe Damaged Groceries
Dear Natrent Management,
I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the recent burst water pipe in my unit/property, which has caused significant inconvenience and damage to my belongings.
On [insert date], the water pipe burst, leading to water flooding into my space. As a direct result, my groceries and other household items became wet and unusable. This incident has caused me unnecessary financial loss and distress.
I would like to know:
1. Who is held accountable for the damages caused by this incident?
2. What steps Natrent will take to reimburse or compensate me for the groceries and items that were destroyed?
3. What measures will be put in place to prevent such issues from happening again?
I have always paid my rent and maintained my responsibilities as a tenant. In return, I expect Natrent to uphold its responsibility to provide a safe and well-maintained living environment. This incident highlights a lapse in property maintenance that has directly impacted me.
I request a written response within 7 working days regarding the accountability for this matter and the process of compensation. Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution, I will be left with no choice but to escalate this issue further with the Rental Housing Tribunal and other relevant authorities. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the lack of accountability in handling repeated incidents at my property.
1. First Incident (Cupboard Collapse): On [2022/2023], my kitchen cupboard fell off, resulting in the destruction of my plates and glasses. When I reported the matter, I was told that Natrent was not responsible. I accepted this at the time, although it was clear to me that the cupboard was a structural issue and not due to tenant negligence.
2. Second Incident (Burst Water Pipe): On [insert date], a water pipe burst in my unit, which caused flooding and damaged my groceries and personal items. This has now resulted in further financial loss and inconvenience.
These repeated incidents highlight ongoing issues with the property’s maintenance and raise serious concerns about Natrent’s responsibilities toward tenants. As per the Rental Housing Act, 1999, the landlord/agent is obligated to maintain the property in a good state of repair. Failure to do so unfairly places the financial and emotional burden on tenants, which is unacceptable.
I am requesting the following:
A written explanation of who is accountable for these damages.
Compensation or reimbur*****t for my financial losses caused by the burst pipe.
A clear plan on how Natrent will ensure that the property is properly maintained to prevent further damage [Velile Mjiako] [6190 WINDMILL estates] [**********73]
