Based on recent customer reviews, Natrent faces overwhelming criticism centered on deposit refund disputes, with numerous tenants alleging fabricated or exaggerated maintenance charges used to withhold deposits. Property maintenance is a recurring frustration, with reports of burst pipes, structural damage, and prolonged delays in repairs. Tenants also describe poor communication, unresponsive administrators, and billing disputes over utilities and lease terms. A small number of reviewers praised individual agents like Valery and Meta for their professionalism and responsiveness, though these positive experiences are far outweighed by negative feedback.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.

My experience with NatRent was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I submitted all my documents, clearly communicated my situation days in advance, and explained that I would be driving all the way from another town to view the place. Even after confirming everything, they came back with unnecessary issues and confusion about my account and funds — despite there being more than enough money. The entire approval process felt *********** and poorly handled. The staff (or whoever is responsible for applications) wasted my time and fuel, and the experience was nowhere near the standard a client should expect. I am very disappointed and do not recommend NatRent based on this experience.

A lease renewal is when a tenant and landlord agree to extend the rental agreement after the original lease period ends. It can come with several benefits for tenants, depending on the agreement. Here are common benefits of a lease renewal for tenants: ✅ 1. Stability & Security You don’t have to move. You avoid the stress of house hunting. Your children stay in the same school and environment (very important for family stability). ✅ 2. Locked-In Rent The landlord may keep the rent the same or only increase it slightly. You avoid sudden large rent increases that can happen with new tenants. ✅ 3. Lower Moving Costs No transport costs. No new deposit (usually). No agency fees. No connection fees for water/electricity. ✅ 4. Negotiation Opportunity A renewal is a good time to negotiate: Repairs or maintenance Improvements (painting, fixing cupboards, security upgrades) Flexible payment dates Renewal bonus (sometimes landlords offer incentives) ✅ 5. Maintained Good Relationship If you’ve been a good tenant, landlords often prefer renewing with you rather than taking a risk on a new tenant. Dear [Landlord’s Name], I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally follow up on my lease renewal submission, which was sent over a month ago. To date, I have not received any feedback or confirmation regarding the status of the renewal. As a tenant, this matter is important to me as it affects my housing stability and planning. The prolonged silence has created uncer*****y, and I kindly request clarity on whether the lease renewal has been approved, declined, or is still under consideration. I respectfully ask that you provide written feedback within seven (7) days from the date of this email so that I may make the necessary arrangements accordingly. I value clear and professional communication and trust that this matter will receive your urgent attention. Thank you in advance for your prompt response. BIG DE*****STERS!!!! After 2 months of daily emails and disputes, Natrent fails to refund me my full deposit. We struggled for over a month to receive invoices for 'maintenance' cost breakdown. The Management and agents send various emails in refusing to resolve this matter and refuse to refund our full deposit. We reveived only 20% of the deposit. Damages we didn't cause, and they are aware of, we are being charged for. Natrent has done this to many other individuals, but we refuse to take the nonsense they claim, and we will be taking legal action.

Your deposit, forget about it. The agents are nice and very professional but after that signature you are on your own. They’ve done their job. Firstly you will occupy a unit with pre existing damages and defects from the previous tenants. You will find out why the unit is in that condition because they’ll hold your deposit and shift the blame on you.they will promise you to do repairs the first week of your occupancy and that’ll never happen during that period only when it suits them and it inconveniences you…they’ll even suggest you take leave from work to accommodate their inefficiency. NEVER OCCUPY A UNIT WITH PRE EXISTING DAMAGES by the time you move out, they’ll fabricate defects, exaggerate expenses and phrase their administrative systems issues as logically and contractually relevant just not to pay back the deposit. This is with hope that you eventually give up your deposit from the exhaustion of following up. And they have done this to many people and got away with it. My refund is based upon finalising the previous tenants account who moved out months ago so they can reconcile my refund invoice…the refund administrator for the Windmill park estate has a negative attitude, any incompetence and unstructured internal processes will be used to delay your refund and to a higher possibility of not getting it. Believe the reviews and save yourself the headache of dealing with this rental agency.

Natrent is *****ulent as he'll. 2 months after we left a rental property, we are still not receiving our deposit with interest. We did everything by the book, and are charged for damages that already existed as per their inspection before we moved in. BS things like greasy stove, which we thoroughly cleaned twice before we left (which I found greasy and disgusting when we moved in), half painted walls, which was also a finding before we moved in. Then the audacity to ask me to play agent when viewings took place before we left. Natrent is the worst, and will be reported to the housing tribunal.

Don't ever ever ever rent any property from Natrent. No matter how clean you leave the place, and without any defects exactly as you found it, when you leave, they come with stories that the place must be deep cleaned, walls and door need to be repaired (I would love to see the damaged walls / doors), and the place to be repainted (it was full of spots when I moved in). My deposit is almost R8k for the 2 bedroom flat I rented, now they come with expenses worth over R11k for so-called repairs, so now I owe them R2.7k They can go f#ck themselves and I will never ever rent anything from them ever again. Also while living in the unit, I had endless problems with a ridiculous electricity tariff (almost R6 per unit), and they just don't give a **** about the tenant at all, only the owner count for them. I will never ever do business with these ******* again.

Rented out this place at the beginning of 1st February 2025 and upon our arrival we discovered that there was a permanent caretaker which was not mentioned to us by NatRent, his name is Dumisane (Zimbabwen). We had challenges with the place such as sharing the property not only with Dumisani but with the owner's furniture and other assets. Unfortunately, the house did not fully belong to us because the caretaker had keys and he would access the property anytime, anyday! He would go as far as opening the taps to water the garden without asking for permission. The water bill was never anything below R5000.00 because it had to accommodate the caretaker who uses water whenever he desires + it was never mentioned to us that there are two fish-ponds that are running 24/7 daily with water and electricity. We asked the agent (***en Oswin) a rough estimate of the monthly electricity bill in that house and he said it could be around R3000 - R3500 but to our surprise the bill started at R10K going up to R25000 just for electricity only and part of the cause of this was the two fishponds running on electricity, also the owner's fridge that was plugged inside the garage. When signing the contract, I only knew of rent, water and electricity however there were other utilities added to my account such fibre, security and refuse. Initially the rent was R16950 but I found myself paying +-R39950 inclusive of everything. Lastly, BE WARNED! When you do not see eye to eye with the caretaker he will pour leg poison for you (African Voodoo) he will give you elephantiasis - huge leg. Before we moved in, upon viewing the place, we found one of the former tenants with one huge leg. Unfortunately the same fate befall us! The caretaker started pouring leg poison for us and unfortunately we had to run from that place without even giving notice because it felt like we were at the point of death from the poison. But not only that, the house is HAUNTED! . . . At night you will hear people speaking (voices) inside and outside of the house yet you will see no one in the yard. All in all, the caretaker is a WIZARD. That house is a no go area. At this point I am asking myself?! Is the former tenant alive or dead? . . .

Disappointed service Subject: Urgent Complaint: Water Burst Pipe Damaged Groceries Dear Natrent Management, I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the recent burst water pipe in my unit/property, which has caused significant inconvenience and damage to my belongings. On [insert date], the water pipe burst, leading to water flooding into my space. As a direct result, my groceries and other household items became wet and unusable. This incident has caused me unnecessary financial loss and distress. I would like to know: 1. Who is held accountable for the damages caused by this incident? 2. What steps Natrent will take to reimburse or compensate me for the groceries and items that were destroyed? 3. What measures will be put in place to prevent such issues from happening again? I have always paid my rent and maintained my responsibilities as a tenant. In return, I expect Natrent to uphold its responsibility to provide a safe and well-maintained living environment. This incident highlights a lapse in property maintenance that has directly impacted me. I request a written response within 7 working days regarding the accountability for this matter and the process of compensation. Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution, I will be left with no choice but to escalate this issue further with the Rental Housing Tribunal and other relevant authorities. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the lack of accountability in handling repeated incidents at my property. 1. First Incident (Cupboard Collapse): On [2022/2023], my kitchen cupboard fell off, resulting in the destruction of my plates and glasses. When I reported the matter, I was told that Natrent was not responsible. I accepted this at the time, although it was clear to me that the cupboard was a structural issue and not due to tenant negligence. 2. Second Incident (Burst Water Pipe): On [insert date], a water pipe burst in my unit, which caused flooding and damaged my groceries and personal items. This has now resulted in further financial loss and inconvenience. These repeated incidents highlight ongoing issues with the property’s maintenance and raise serious concerns about Natrent’s responsibilities toward tenants. As per the Rental Housing Act, 1999, the landlord/agent is obligated to maintain the property in a good state of repair. Failure to do so unfairly places the financial and emotional burden on tenants, which is unacceptable. I am requesting the following: A written explanation of who is accountable for these damages. Compensation or reimbur*****t for my financial losses caused by the burst pipe. A clear plan on how Natrent will ensure that the property is properly maintained to prevent further damage [Velile Mjiako] [6190 WINDMILL estates] [**********73]
