I made a call to NMMU today. The contact center staff was utterly *********** and rude. After the 4 the call because 2 calls cancelled while I was hold and the 3rd was transferred to the wrong department the rude operator dropped the phone because I refused to take the number she wanted to give op of the department that I wanted to be connected to since I told her that I have the number already. This behavior is disgraceful. NMMU should employ competent staff and train them regularly to deal with customers.

I had the privilege to complete my degree at this university at South Campus. The campus was very neat and there was evidence of good maintenance that kept the campus attractive. We had the opportunity to take part in Sport like Archery and there was also a gym to help us keep fit. At the gym students only had a disadvantage when it came to the availability of the swimming pool. The library was my favorite part of the university with the biggest selection of books. The library helped a lot when I needed to complete assignments. There were adequate books available. The computer centers were a life saver as I had no internet access at home. The lecturers were very helpful. All you needed to do is ask if you did not understand work or you needed information. Today I am qualified and I don't struggle to find work like before I had a degree. I recommend the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University any day.

Very wicked institution. Do not treat staff with human dignity. Keep staff on contract for over a decade with workloads 275% of the standard and salaries 25% of what they should be according to standard salary scales, qualifications and experience. Victimize staff blaming them when underprepared students fail. Yet they take in students who do not belong there as a result of their greed for more money, charging the students astronomically high fees, which the fat cats at the top pocket for themselves, while the abused contract staff they mistreat until they collapse and end up medically bordered. They think they are above the law, but one day they will be accountable to Jesus Christ and will receive their just punishments.

This institution is very pathetic, we have requested a sylabi on the 17th of January and they told us it will take about 4 weeks to complete. Spoke to Monique on the 26 of February and she promised to email the documents by Friday the 1st of March. Till today, and when you call the Student Records Department, they never bother to pick up the phone and it is inconveniencing the former student as he needs those credits. So unprofessional of the Student Records Department.

I used to love this university. Since my first year undergrad in 2006, I've been a proud student... but now since 2015, when I registered for my PhD in pharmacy, it's been downhill and catastrophic. I haven't had any assistance nor adequately supervision through out. I had a cosupervisor who resigned without even telling me. Then my actual supervisor who hasnt sent me one single correction in 4 years until I was handing in, also resigns. The HOD resigned and the whole department is a mess. I pay high fees and obtain zero education. Its scandalous and I want a refund. My proposal had a budget of R40k was approved and the 'research fund' was to cover it. Now in August, after zero funding, I fended for myself and managed to submit a less than fantastic thesis. Nevertheless worth at least 50%. So I submit to exams office and 6 weeks later, check the progress of my assessment. To my great surprise they say it's still laying there in the office. Hasn't been sent to panel corrected let alone corrected and marked. What is wrong with this picture??? Too much to mention. The international office hasnt helped. The pharmacy department isn't helping and now I've emailed everyone I could, and now what's left is to sue them.
