DO NOT GO THERE. Save yourself from the trauma.
I went there in March 2021 with my girlfriend. We saw the pictures in their website and liked it. What wrong saw there was nothing like the pictures. Even the drive going inside was very dodgy. We were really looking towards the activities we had planned so we chose to stay even though we were not at ease. We asked about security and the guy from reception told us he will be there and we shouldn't worry there security that patrols aswell. So we went to get food at around 6pm and when we came back there was legit no one in that area, it was just the two of us and we are both girls. We still went on to get to the room we were given and later on realized that the room we were given isn't even the one I wanted. We had paid for one that is higher up and we got one that was low in the mountain. We got to sleep and at 12 midnight I was woken up by a person trying to break in. I screamed for my life, he just stood there and when my girlfriend woke up she screamed get the gun and I ran to our bags as if we had it but luckily that scared him away. Now we were just stuck there coz we were afraid to even go outside. We called the owner of that place and she called security and we were told that they are patrolling around the premises, we called the police and no one helped. We just now wanted a person to escort us out but never got the help until the morning 1 security only came at 6h30. We were then told that we cannot get a refund for the money we paid. I had to get my bank to reverse the payment. I am just thinking that we would have been ****d or even killed because that guy looked like he knew what he was doing and the window itself was very loose and it's like they've been breaking in there.

THIS PLACE NEEDS TO SHUT DOWN !
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM AND NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN ! THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, THE ROOMS ARE NOT CLEANED AT ALL... THE BEDS HAS INSECTS LAYING ON THEM, THE GROUND OUTSIDE WAS WET AND MUDDY... THE POOLS HAVE NOT BEEN MAINTAINED AND CLEANED... I HAD TO RESORT TO SLEEPING IN MY CAR ! (could not leave due to lockdown restrictions) WE ALMOST GOT ROBBED AND THERE WAS NO SECURITY THAT REGULARLY CHECKS ON THE GUESTS... AND THERE WAS NO GATE AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE THEREFORE ANY RANDOM PERSON CAN ENTER THE FACILITY... I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID!! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND SUPPORT THESE MONSTERS THAT RUN THIS PLACE ! IT IS NOT WORTH IT !

Worst experience
On the weekend of the 6th until 8th September, we had book on the above lodge as a hiking group. Firstly the lodge only offered on toilet paper room per chalet, hoping that on the next morning they will added but we had to go to the nearest garage to buy our own. Second Saturday evening we had a borne fire and angry Afrikaans man came to interogate us asking who gave us permission to use his private place yet we were advise on checking in, we were ask to make sure we clean the place in morning. We were do traumatized hopin that he won't untie his pit bull. Overall experience I would advise anyone to hook there even at reception no one is visible.

The worst place ever. We arrived at But Bush lodge firstly when you drive in you get the smell of *** poo in the air ,When we booked in the Guy also was not around waited for him and he sure did take his time Got to the room and went to the swimming pool the water was milky white and it smelled so I got back to my the room looks nice but when you want to sleep bugs are falling on you because the door can't close properly it has a gap that's about 3cm wide next to the door handle down. The other guests was making so much noise and playing music till 3O''Clock the next morning when you think finally your going to get sleep then they start again . The owner can really invest in new mattresses its so thin it makes your back hurt and the duvet also smells .

Traumatic experience at Nutbush and no support from Booking.com
Nutbush Boma Lodge/Hekpoort Magalies Must say my last booking through booking.com was an ENORMOUS DISAPPOINTMENT. Will not want to book again through them and will definitely not want my friends or anyone to take this chance. Risk. I had to fall around in the dark on arrival at Nutbush Boma Lodge on Friday night 8th June ’18 to find alternative accommodation at additional cost to me and was late (and very unsettled in myself) to register at seminar because of that. Unacceptable I paid in full per eft in advance, although when entering the website it did say no deposit was required and that I could pay on arrival. Minutes after I’ve send my booking request I have received an email from Nutbush Boma Lodge/Tracy to say I must eft the money asap to secure the booking. How convenient if your place is not on a guesthouse standard never mind Lodge standard. Unsafe feeling all round I’ve experienced there. No staff at reception at 17:30. No clear indication where to park and battle to get to reception up and down very unlevelled surfaces. No lights at my "parking spot" on rough grass back of row with 4 rooms almost back of property on a hill. At the back of those rooms it seems like dormitories for schools but I was on a Friday night the only soul in sight. No other cars. No other guests on a place in the field. Isolated place. I was woman alone. What if it was my daughter there on her own???!! I had to after the struggle up and down to find reception behind a bush ****erally) phoned both the landline and Tracy's cell numerous times without luck. She denied it. Said everyone else (..?) gets through. I have screenshots of the calls made to both the numbers during that time. On top of it did Tracy with whom I communicated during the course of the booking didn't meet me at reception but send her husband (?) with a strong heavy (old) smell of alcohol on his breath. He also knew I would return after 22:00 later and I just couldn’t place myself willingly in such a situation. Red lights that I couldn’t ignore. ............................. Very unprofessional. VERY scary. Total feeling of unsafeness. I was SO DISAPPOINTED Of course they have a “no refund on cancellation” policy. I did not cancel. I travelled 2 hours to get there, arrived and wanted to book in…. Regardless my explanation and that I tried to ask Tracy to place herself in my situation she persist that the nearly R 1400.00 was non-refundable. Lastly I had to ask in advance for a kettle. No coffee (no normal coffee station as for guesthouses and lodges). It was standing on its own on an empty slab in the room. Tracy’s reason for that: it was not a self-catering unit…. So much more reason then for it to have a coffee station?.. Not lodge-standard at all. I really looked forward to my stay there as on the web the pictures looks warm and inviting which was not so. I need to warn people to keep it in mind not to send your daughters, wife on their own. It is secluded. Be aware. During my 2 weeks of trying to get Tracy at NUTBUSSH BOMA LODGE to see the problem and prevent similar situations for future customers, BOOKING.COM gave zero support or acknowledgement of emails send to them etc. That was a big disappointment to realise that they are not interested to hear where problems are encountered and it possibly is only all about money to them?
