I signed up with Oxygn Ballito in December 2025 after experiencing ongoing issues with my previous WiFi service provider. I was referred by a friend who was happy with their fibre service.
The fibre installation was done the same afternoon, which initially seemed very efficient. However, the problems started shortly thereafter. I live in a double-storey house, and while fibre was installed in the lounge and my son’s bedroom upstairs, there was no WiFi coverage downstairs.
At no point during the installation was I advised that additional equipment would be required to ensure proper coverage throughout the house. I contacted MJ shortly after the installation and was told that someone would be sent out to assess the issue. This did not happen. I waited until after the festive season and followed up multiple times before someone eventually came out.
When a technician finally attended, I was informed that I would need a booster. I requested a quote and was shocked to receive one for nearly R4,000. This requirement and cost should have been identified and disclosed upfront during the initial installation, not after the service was already installed and paid for.
The lack of follow-up, poor communication, and failure to properly assess my home before installation has resulted in unexpected additional costs. This experience has been frustrating and disappointing, and I feel that the service was not transparent from the outset.
I would caution anyone considering Oxygn Ballito to ensure that all coverage requirements and costs are clearly explained before proceeding.
