I am extremely disappointed with Discovery Insure’s service. I cancelled my policy i followed the correct cancellation process and received confirmation that the policy was no longer active. Despite this, Discovery has continued to deduct money from my bank account after the cancellation date. Also Phakama told me via email that I have received my refund even though i haven't. This is unacceptable. Once a policy is cancelled, no further deductions should be made. I have now had to spend additional time and effort trying to resolve something that should never have happened in the first place. I expect an immediate refund of all amounts deducted after cancellation, written confirmation that my policy is fully cancelled and assurance that no further debits will be made This experience has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and it raises serious concerns about Discovery Insurer's billing and cancellation processes. I hope Discovery addresses this matter urgently and improves how they handle cancellations and customer accounts.

Dear Siphesihle S, We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and frustration caused. Unfortunately, the EFT payment reference on our Phakama bank statement did not match the system-generated reference and was therefore not automatically picked up for allocation to the policy. As a result, the payment required manual investigation and linking, which took slightly longer than usual. We appreciate that you contacted our administration department, as this enabled us to resolve the matter promptly, and the successful allocation of the payment was confirmed to you in writing via email. We regret the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and for bringing this to our attention. Phakama Team

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recent handling of my account. It has come to my attention that the bank account linked to my policy was changed without my authorization. As a result, the account you opted to use does not have sufficient funds, and this has caused unnecessary inconvenience.

Im am so so furious with this Discovery Funeral Plan. My husband took out this plan many years ago and passed away last year October. The plan was for him, myself and my daughter. The one year premium waiver is nearly over and the only thing Ive managed to do was to change the banking debit order details so I can continue with the Policy.. I have been trying for months to get my updated policy from them but got told they can not email the policy to me only to my husbands email... HE PASSED ON WHAT PART CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND!!!! IVE TAKEN OVER THE POLICY!!!!!! I need my copy of policy asap or I WILL cancel this !!!!!!!!!!

I joined Discovery February 2016 and I never had a problem. Ever since Discovery changed to Phakama Administration Services, I have also had a problem. At first my policy was cancelled saying I missed a payment, yet I didn't and they reinstated and I was told that my policy anniversary was in September no long in February, I assumed since it was reinstated. September comes still it emails back and forth ended up getting the cash back in October. 2024 same story of the back and forth email and only now they say my anniversary is in February, yet in February 2024 I wasn't paid the cash back.

I am very upset that Phakama is administering the discovery funeral plan. They double deducted a premium without my permission (which is against the PASA law) and now i get told it takes 6 days for someone to respond to the emails. So when will i get my refund then if it takes a whole 6 days for them to READ the email vs Refunding. This is daylight *******. Apart from this they didn't deduct in SEP i called in for a manual deduction to go off immediately. That was done. why still take 2 payments the following month! i get told by the consultant that is how there system works what utter nonsence is that?? i want my Money! i dont even want to know how there claims service is if this is already so pathetic!
