Subject: My Private Cell Number Is Being Published Without Permission
I am shocked to see that Pnet has published my personal cell phone number online without my consent.
This is a serious invasion of privacy and completely unacceptable. I have not authorized my private number to be shared publicly in any way.
I require:
Immediate removal of my number.
Written confirmation once this has been done.
An explanation of how this happened.
Publishing someone’s private contact details without consent is irresponsible and potentially ********. Please treat this as urgent.
I expect this issue to be resolved immediately.

On the Pnet site, a candidate’s profile remains private and hidden until such time as they personally choose to toggle their profile to “Open to Work” (under Personal Details). Only then will the relevant information be visible, and only to Recruiters (not publicly).

On the Pnet site, a candidate’s profile remains private and hidden until such time as they personally choose to toggle their profile to “Open to Work” (under Personal Details). Only then will the relevant information be visible, and only to Recruiters (not publicly).

I can confirm that you have indicated on the Pnet platform (by way of toggling the “Open to Work” icon displayed on your profile) that you are open to being contacted by recruiters, as your profile is currently visible to Recruiters using the Pnet platform to source candidates. Please note that it is compulsory for applicants that have made their profile visible (and in order to be able to apply for positions) to have a mobile number listed as it enables recruiters to contact them directly regarding relevant roles, as occurred in this case. We can further confirm that the person who contacted you is a verified recruiter using the Pnet platform to source candidates.
Please also note that by registering on Pnet and accepting the Terms & Conditions, you have granted consent for your information to be used to connect your with recruiters (IF you have made your profile visible, which you have), since this is the purpose of the Pnet platform. The recruiter in question 'unlocked' your CV, and - as per the Whatsapp she shared with you - your CV contains your cell number. If you do not want to be contacted by recruiters in future, please log into your Pnet profile and un-toggle the "Open to Work" button (under Personal Details) to hide your profile.
That said, as I now understand, the nature of the call you received was not related to a job vacancy but rather to canvas for business from your company. That is NOT OK, and this will be taken up directly with the recruiter who is in breach of contract with Pnet as a result. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and I'm sad to see you leave the platform based on the actions of an unethical rectuiter.
