My boyfriend and I love to travel and we normally have our own camper. We decided to “glamp-up” our trip and test our smaller 4x4 and book a chalet. We were terribly excited :-) We attended the STRAB Fest and paid R16k for a 4 sleeper for 4 nights! The Kobus rondavel… My boyfriend is blind and we needed a bathroom in our unit so that he could get around himself, rather than trying to find the public ablution facility. Some of the problems: We had no braai grid at all! Wonky / flimsy plastic chairs. Moulded (green) wooden utensils and cutting board. All crockery was dusty and or dirty. The pots and pans were in a state with no fitting lids! We complained but no one listened! What a rip-off and a very bad 1st experience for my boyfriend. I’m an old STRABber but will not return again. Whether we camp or not!

Under very difficult circumstances Fanie Lategan and the team at Malongane created a great atmosphere to have a December holiday. Fanie always has to perform outside his jurisdiction to make sure the guests are accommodated and happy. A pity he has to take responsibility for theft and power outages which is not under his control. Always remember that if you let him know timeously what the problems are, he will do his best to sort it out. Thank you for doing your best, as always

Fanie Lategan lost his temper on a valid complaint about theft taking place in the Dive Camp kitchen under his management. Majority of the camp visitors lost most of their meat. He shouted, became aggressive and lost his temper infront of all the tourist and according to others this happens on a regular basis. The camp and ablution facilities was in a very poor state and its clear that bad management is to blame. Myself and many others will never again return to Ponto Malongane while under Fanie Lategan's management. I heard from his own words that he told other tourist also complaining about his bad attitude that he said they must start a facebook page against him for all the complaints as a sarcastic remark. This person does not deserve this position and have no respect for his job or anyone else.
