After the second consultation with dr. A Jacobsz at Pretoria Eye institute, I was booked for a laser procedure to be done on both my eyes the following week. I received instructions to collect the TTO and pre- medication prior to admission from an outside pharmacy and then to pay R30 000 before the procedure can be carried out, same done. On the day of booked procedure, I went through the entire admission procedure, even had to take the pre-medication, just to be told after 2 hours by dr. A Jacobsz that he wasn't going to perform the procedure today. They will phone me in the new year to reschedule as I am too heavy for the theatre bed. It was a big surprise to me as well as the nursing staff as they have the weight limit as 135 kg. This, after I informed him previously during my 2nd consultation in his rooms, I weigh 132 kg, and he assured me it is okay as the weight limit is 135 kg. And when I reminded him that he said my weight is not a problem, the dr. requested that the RN weigh me again this time without my shoes, then my weight was recorded as 130.8 kg. Apparently, I am 0.8 kg too heavy for the procedure to be executed, as the new weight limit is 130 kg and 0.8 kg are going to break their bed. This unfortunately, give the impression that dr. Jacobsz does not know what is happening in the company he is working with. Or another option: make his quota before going on leave. It is impossible that he only became aware that the theatre bed weight limit is 130 kg seconds before the procedure.
