Last night I tried to update the microchip information for one of my dogs. The microchip was registered by our old vet 12 years ago. I experienced an error message so I contacted BackHome. This morning I was assisted super quickly and efficiently by Kovilan Nagia from Backhome Support - Virbac RSA (Pty) Ltd. Thank you for the easy and pleasant resolution to my query, Kovilan!
In early March this year, we had the opportunity to make use of the services of Peter Kotze of Valley Construction. Valley Construction operates in the South Peninsula area of Cape Town. Anyone who lives in the South Peninsula will tell you that our lovely valley is known for three things: our stunning beaches, our gorgeous mountains and our waterproofing problems! When we bought our home late last year, we were not completely surprised to find that sections of our roof needed work. Having been impressed by a number of other projects we had seen completed by Valley Construction, we invited Peter to come and evaluate the state of our roof and quote on the required repairs. In an area rife with ‘fly-by-night’ operations, it was a real pleasure to meet and work with a contractor of Peter’s calibre. He was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. Peter was able to pinpoint the sources of our waterproofing issues quite quickly and he suggested a number of different repair options. As we were working within a budget, we really appreciated that he was willing to work with us and he was able to put together a phased approach, beginning with the most urgent of the works. We can now proceed with the remaining works as our budget allows. We were also very impressed with the team he brought to site. We had Peter and his builders here for almost a week. We found them polite, well spoken and unobtrusive. It is also worth mentioning that Peter took a very hands-on approach to the work and was personally present on site for the duration of the entire job. This level of supervision is not something that every contractor can boast. And lastly, the proof of the pudding... When it rained last week, we were delighted to note that for the first time in 5 months, all the rain remained OUTSIDE of our house. Our floors are once again dry! It is easy to see why Valley Construction is as well established as they are. Along with many other happy clients, we are pleased to be able to recommend them without hesitation. Thank you Peter! We are looking very forward to working with you again.
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share about some really excellent service we got recently. We have just completed a small project (minor works – it was a room extension) with Home Build Construction. What a pleasant surprise! To begin with, Home Build Construction came in as the most affordable of four quotes. We were building newbies so they assisted us with our entire process from sourcing an Architect to getting Council approvals. We were honestly dreading having builders in our house for 4 – 5 weeks but the builders on site were knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and well spoken at all times. As a mum alone at home with two small children during the day, I never once felt uncomfortable with the builders on site. On the contrary, they actually came to me one afternoon when my neighbour’s alarm went off and her dogs started barking. They wanted to make sure that everything was alright. They really were a great bunch. We were surprised by Lockdown halfway through our build! But they left the site as clean and tidy and secure as possible and they were proactive about getting permits as soon as restrictions relaxed. Once they returned to site, they took all the additional precautions required by Level 3 and they worked overtime to get the project completed. In the end, they not only came in on budget (unheard of, right?!) but they left us with a perfectly clean site. We have honestly been blown away! And the quality of work was excellent. Two days after the build was completed, the new portion of our building was pummeled by a proper Cape Storm. The only water leak we experienced during this time was due to a fault in the existing roof of our 20 year old house :-) We could not be more pleased. It is rare for a home owner to finish a building project, keen to start the next one, LOL . But we are so pleased to have found out about this contractor. Anyway, if anyone is looking to do any sort of renovation or build work in the near future, definitely give them a shout for a quote. You can contact Ashy Heller on 084 707 3811 or 067 890 1561 or ashilan54@outlook.com . Just to confirm, we are not affiliated to this company at all. We just received really surprising service and this is exactly the kind of local business that we need to support if we can.

What a pleasure it has been to deal with this company!

We recently sold our house and were referred to QC Compliance by our estate agent. We have bought and sold three houses in the last few years and this house had by far, the most compliance issues. But QC Compliance was fantastic from beginning to end.

Charmaine, who handled the quotations and scheduling was friendly, helpful and efficient. She communicated with us proactively throughout the process. She submitted quotations and provided feed back to queries really quickly and it was just lovely to deal with her.

Every member of the inspection team who did our initial assessment was prompt, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The inspection was thorough. We had a few compliance issues arise which we weren't expecting but the inspectors were able to properly reference current legislation and detail the work which was required in an understandable way.

The report and subsequent quotation we received was clear and detailed. Our questions were answered promptly.

One often finds that once a company secures business, they relax somewhat and aren't as attentive in finishing the work. QC surprised us again. Once we accepted the quote, the team they sent to actually do the repairs were fantastic! There was a fair amount of work required but special thanks must go to the Project Manager, Yannick. He coordinated the day SO well, especially given that he and his team had to work around a house full of moving boxes, dogs and small children!

We have had so many bad experiences with contractors in the past that Yannick was a breath of fresh air. He was well spoken, organised, thorough and detail orientated. All of the technicians attending to our repairs were efficient and pleasant to deal with but we do have to extend our special thanks to Yannick for holding the day together and talking us through each step of the process.

We cannot recommend this company highly enough. The consistently good service we had from every member of their team, as well as the affordability of the work, speaks very highly of their underlying management policies. While we hope we don't require their services again very soon, we will definitely be asking for them by name in the future.

QC, thanks for helping us get through this part of our move so smoothly. Please keep doing what you are doing. You guys are honestly doing it right!

My husband and I are in the process of trying to buy a new house and we are dealing with a home loan consultant at ABSA, with whom we have worked before.

Recently, we were advised that we should go to our nearest branch to release some monies we required and that’s how it happened that we found ourselves at ABSA Constantia Village late last Friday afternoon.

Shortly after chatting to the Enquiries lady, we realised that it wasn’t going to be a simple transaction. We had misunderstood our home loan consultant and we had missed a deadline and some quite essential paperwork. By the time we realised this, the branch was closing. ABSA would have been fully within their rights to turn us around at that point, without our money and wish us well on our way.

BUT there is a reason we have banked with ABSA for the last 15 years and there is a reason we probably always will. Instead of turning us away, we were assisted by a wonderful lady by the name of Razia Noordien.

It was a Friday afternoon. The branch was closed. The mistake was ours and Ms. Noordien took us into her office, sat us down and helped us redo all of our paperwork. She talked us through the process we should follow and helped us with our application and she did it all without grumbling. And the lady who originally assisted us at the Enquiries counter stayed back as well.

Customer Service like this is just absolutely unheard of! We were just amazed! These ladies are such a credit to their branch.

We have lived in this area for over 10 years and we realised the other day that we have never had a bad experience at ABSA Constantia Village. Whatever that branch is doing, they are doing it right and we are very, very grateful .

Here’s looking forward to many more years with ABSA!

Dear Human Resources Managers,

Before moving your firm's pension fund over to NMG, please spare a thought for your employees. I have never encountered such dismal service from a pension fund administrator.

I requested a withdrawal on the 15th March 2016. I was advised that it would take up to 3 months to pay out (at the worst). Having heard nothing for two and a half months, I contacted my Human Resources administrator on the 30th May 2016. She sent NMG an e-mail to confim that everything was on track with the withdrawal claim. We have yet to receive a response.

I contacted the NMG call centre directly. Their call centre staff are polite not empowered to assist clients with actual information. Every query seems to get referred to some faceless department you are not allowed to speak to directly. I requested a statement two weeks ago. I am still waiting.

After 3 follow up phone calls, they made a part payment on the 10th June 2016. I phoned their call centre on the 13th June 2016 to try and establish when the balance would be paid. The call centre agent admitted that someone had made a mistake because she could 'see on the system' that another payment was due to me but she could not divulge the amount over the phone or even hazard a guess as to when it would be paid. I once again requested a statement. I am still waiting.

This might be a huge company but is is evident that all of their administrative resources are deployed to take money from their clients as there do not seem to be any resources left over to deal with withdrawals. I am beyond frustrated. How does a firm who cannot answer an e-mail or send a client a simple statement despite two requests and two e-mails, stay in business?
