Shocked. After sharing my experience, Propr has now blocked me — which says more about their ethics than anything else. Please don’t ever book an Airbnb hosted by them. I have now heard that many people have had the bad experiences with Propr. We booked an Airbnb hosted by Propr weeks in advance. We arrived on the 19th at 6:30pm after flying with our baby. We specifically booked a one-bedroom with a bath and paid extra for a cot. As we landed, I got a message sent at 17:30 - the apartment “smelt of smoke,” even though it had been “aired out all day.” Their “solution”? Push us into studio apartments in a completely different part of Cape Town — no bath, no separate room for the baby, no balcony. And no refund. When I asked them to place us in something at the same level as what we booked, they admitted they had options available… but only if I paid the difference. I said I would still go to the original apartment for the night and deal with the smell until the morning. Suddenly… the booking was cancelled. Just like that. Leaving a mom and baby with nowhere to go at night, with Propr refusing to cover any costs. They stated Airbnb had cancelled on their side which Airbnb confirmed was a LIE. The booking was cancelled by Propr. After I shared what happened, they blocked me. And then magically, the next morning, I was contacted with a “more appropriate” option. Apparently this had “nothing to do with social media” and that this is “not their usual service.” Yet since posting, I’ve received countless messages with bad stories. Since this we’ve spoken to a senior person who continued to defend their actions. He also changed the story to an ‘absolutely trashed’ flat. A strict no smoking policy and apparently a “leave a couple and their and baby with nowhere to go” policy too. Better to be on the pavement with fresh air. I find it hard to believe. Leaving us with nowhere but their lesser options to go at 7pm the night of. We are lucky we have friends and family to go to but imagine if we were arriving from overseas. It’s just disgusting. I strongly believe in not letting businesses get away with messing with people. So sharing here.
I spent a fortune on an OUTDOOR rug less than a year ago and it started looking terrible just a few months after I got it. It was a huge investment for us - more than we’ve spent on anything other than our couch. We were having a baby and decided it would be a good idea to have a high quality rug we can clean easily in our lounge. NOTE - this was used indoors and a big portion was covered by a coffee table. When notifying the company of the poor quality of the rug, we were told it falls out of the warranty period. Then someone came to see it. Note the care instructions: Vacuum regularly (done twice per week with our Dyson) Use mild detergents only (washed once with dishwashing liquid over the balustrade on the veranda and hosed) Hose with clean water So, when the woman came to look at it, she first said our vacuum is the problem. I have an Dyson with an head specifically for carpets. Apparently these extremely expensive rugs cannot handle a good quality vacuum, therefore this is my fault. She then said that it looks like it’s been brushed - which it has not. I hosed it over the balcony just to foam up the dishwashing liquid and rinse. Although, I’m not sure HOW one uses light detergents on this home washable rug? THEN I was told that it must have been in a high traffic area in my lounge. So an outdoor rug can’t last a year in my lounge. I’d really be interested to know this ‘outdoor’ rug can actually handle if being in my lounge and vacuumed by a Dyson was too much. THEN I was told it’s because I have two dogs. Apparently they must have scratched the carpet all over. I’ve now been told they will refund me 20% of the amount towards a new rug - after accusing me of lying and having multiple reasons that have caused it but finally settling on I’ve vigorously brushed it - was this before or after my dogs scratched the entire thing or I vacuumed it with my harmful Dyson? So many ways to blame me. I spent over R10k on a rug that apparently has incorrect care instructions. An outdoor rug that can’t handle a vacuum or being in a lounge. I resent that they accuse me of lying then accuse my dogs of destroying my carpet. Disgusting.
Takealot is knowingly selling **** versions of a locally produced product. PSN produces whey protein powder and has had hundreds of complaints about the quality of the products bought off takealot, meanwhile this product is a **** and they know this and continue to sell it! They told us that they removed the **** goods but when ordering again we see they have readded the **** seller and we received **** goods again. How could they do this? I’m also pregnant and have been consuming this **** stuff with who knows what in and TAKEALOT HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS! It’s disgusting. I can’t believe a company can do this to a local brand and then complain about Temu. Seriously. Disgusting. They know about it and continue to shamelessly sell ****s. It’s also impossible to speak to someone. They just send you in circles but basically ignore you.
