I went to Fabric World in Wynberg today intending to buy a large amount of fabric. The shop floor was full of staff talking loudly to one another, a few customers and a lot of fabric. After waiting to be served, I approached a member of staff to ask for help and he told me quite curtly to go and talk to the assistants on the other side of the shop. I did so, and again, had to flag someone down to ask about a certain type of fabric. Without even waiting to hear my query he told me rudely that they didn’t have any and started to walk off. I called him back to ask about the second type of fabric I wanted, and he turned around and walked off while I was talking to him. At this point swallowed my temper and found one last member of staff to assist me, only to be told that she was busy (chatting to another staff member). At that I walked out and will never go back to Fabric World again. Until today I’d have recommended it as one of the best fabric shops in Cape Town but now I will actively discourage people from going there. Your mistake Fabric World.

On Tuesday, 18/10/2016 an urgent document was sent for me via Fedex from Bulawayo to Cape Town. In Bulawayo, the sender was told that the document would be in Cape Town on Thursday 20/10/2016 with an estimated home delivery on Friday 21/10/2016. As of this morning, the current online tracking information placed the parcel in Harare(?!) with an estimated delivery date Tuesday 25/10/2016, and this afternoon that was updated to reflect its arrival in Johannesburg. I have twice called the Fedex office in South Africa to complain: this morning I was informed that the parcel was in Johannesburg, estimated to arrive in Cape Town on Friday 21st of October; the most recent call this afternoon informed me that the parcel was, for some reason, still in Johannesburg and would be delivered to me on Tuesday, or possibly by Monday 24/10/2016. This document is extremely urgent and I need it in my possession by Monday 24th at 8 a.m. I explained this to both representatives I spoke to, but I may as well have been explaining that detail to a tree for all the notice they took. I have also written to Fedex to register my dissatisfaction in writing, and received one half-hearted apology that did not address the key issue, and a notification that my parcel cleared customs at 11.24 a.m. today. Clearly getting it on one of the many internal flights today is beyond the company's resources.

There are daily flights from Bulawayo to Johannesburg, and numerous flights every day from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Why the parcel was routed to Harare first defies comprehension. Even if it was received in Bualwayo to late to make the Tuesday flight, it should have left on Wednesday 19/10/2016. Given the array of flights to chose from, I struggle grasp why Fedex deem it acceptable to take a week to courier a one page document across less than 2,000 kilometres. It's entirely unacceptable that they charge prime rates for this service. Courier delivery is usually not the cheapest option but is supposed to be *fast*. At this point, I think that getting the document sent from Bulawayo to Cape Town on the back of a donkeycart would be faster.
