I contacted this company to attend to a water leak at my house and I was very satisfied with their service they gave to repair the water pipe. I recommend them for plumbing problems.
I appointed Shaab Construction to do renovations to my pool. A 5 day job turned out to take 7 days and throughout, there was no supervision, as I was promised there would be. After the paint dried and I was able to inspect the pool I noticed some issues and requested the contractor to return for the corrections to be made. Unfortunately, by this time, I already paid the contractor in full and he just wasted my time and did not pitch up for some of the appointments agreed to. When I got annoyed and insisted that the problems get resolved, once and for all, he dropped of one person whose only objective was to do damage. Subsequently, I have a pool with very rough patches on the surface, because they threw out some old paint (with pieces of harden paint in it) on the surface and started to spread it on the surface. I will now have to get this sanded down and repainted at additional cost before I can use my pool again.

At the end of August 2016 I made the terrible mistake of employing the so called Security Experts to install a new Electric Fence at my property. I find it difficult to express my disgust in the bad service and absolute customer disregard that I have experienced with this company. I have started to write this review a few different times but it becomes too long and detailed if I explain all the events and the hardship that this company has put me through over the past month and a half to two months. Therefore, I try to summarise as follows:

I was quoted 2 days for the removal of my old Electric fence and installation of a new Electric fence. We agreed that work would commence on Saturday, 10 September 2016 and for it to be completed on either Monday the 12th or the following Saturday depending on how things went on the 10th. Mid morning on Saturday the 10th a team of three people arrived. The first thing they told me was that I must pay another 25% of the total value in addition to the 65% deposit already paid.

Shortly after starting I noted that they are going to break my walls because they were aggressively pulling at the old fence supports to break it off instead of using tools to do so. I asked them to stop doing it and showed them that they have already broken some bricks. Not long after it I found one of them in my backyard again pulling on the supports and in this area breaking big pieces of plaster from the wall pillars. At this point I phoned the person who gave me the quote and asked him to speak to the guys and tell them not to vandalise my property. I handed my phone to the team leader and there was a discussion between the two. At this stage they stared to use a grinder but still work very aggressively. In addition to that they kept on tripping my houses power since there was something wrong with either the extension cord or the grinder or both. So the day went along with a few more incidents and frustrations.

In the late afternoon I started to ask them when they were going to finish since I had another appointment that evening. They kept on postponing and saying they are almost done. At some stage a fourth person arrived which initially seemed like he was inspecting the work but then just stared pushing the guys to finish while he was sitting in his car. It became dark and I told the guys to finish off since I needed to leave.

At this stage the yard was one great big mess with plastic bags, cardboard boxes and old pieces of fence all over the show. I told them to finish off and return first thing Monday morning to come clean up and complete the installation.

I waited till after 09H00 on Monday, 12 September 2016 and no one arrived or phoned me. I started phoning and somewhere during the day they arrived, spent less than 2 hours at my property and left again. My yard was still not clean, there was cement messed on my paving and the installation was of poor quality.

This was the start of numerous phone calls and some e-mails and WhattsApp messages to try and get them to come and sort the problems out. This is where the detail begins that is too long to explain and I can probably not even remember all of it but herewith some “highlights”.

Somewhere during this time I happened to touch the fence with the metal pipe of my pool brush and realised that it does not shock me. I then touched the fence directly with my hand and the shock felt like a bit of static when one touches a door handle in winter after walking over a carpet.

I had a week of leave during which I tried to get them to come and complete the work and get the fence to function as it is supposed to. I left several messages but no one ever returned my calls. On the Friday (23 September) I drove to their offices in Alrode and spoke to the Sales person and someone that was apparently in charge. I was made all sorts of promises and told that they would send out someone on that same day to come sort it out. He never arrived – this was one of many cases where no one arrived for appointments made or arriving several hours later than was agreed.

My request to bring an instrument to measure the voltage on the fence also fell on deaf ears. After lots more phone calls, several wasted appointments and no real progress, they brought a “Fence scope” that indicated the voltage was too low. On Saturday, 21 October 2016 another team arrived, told me that the fence was incorrectly wired and changed it. Then they wanted to leave before installing the earth spikes I was told is needed and proving the fence. I got them to at least install the additional earth spikes but then they left any way. After that the sales person arrived with the fence scope and the voltage was now even lower. He promised that the team would be back on the same day with a new energiser and that they will not leave until I’m satisfied. They never returned.

I then made arrangements that they must come first thing today, Friday 28 October, since I was at home. Again no one arrived in the morning, after several phone calls and messages from my side I was told that they would only arrive at 15H00. After 19H00 they left, unfortunately I missed them since I had to go pick up my daughter from athletics (that I could not watch due to them being so inconsiderate).

I phoned the founder and owner of the company today. He was very arrogant and provoked me and then told me that I should have asked him if it is an appropriate time to talk and slammed the phone in my ear.

Okay, so much for trying to get it shorter but trust me there is much more than what I have listed above.

My only hope is that prospective clients will read this is rather take their business elsewhere because no one deserves for their hard earned money to be wasted in this way.
