Never ever use Ian van der Riet /KSA Builders to do any work for you.

I am quiet new in the Western Cape and so I looked on the internet and local newspapers for builders to do a renovation comprising of an additional sunroom of 4 x 5 meters, changing some windows and breaking down a boundary wall and building a new one.

Several builders quoted and I selected an upper quartile quote from Ian van der Riet, owner of KSA Builders, who did a few site visits and seemed very helpful and enthuiastic.

Van der Riet gave me a quote, a schedule and a list of progress payments. I placed the order in June 2016 and paid the deposit which was 50% of the total job cost. The order of magnitude total cost was R 170 000.00.

The work started on 7th July and should have been fully completed by about the 20th September 2016.

The work started with some enthuiasm and the 2nd progress payment of about 20% of total job cost was made. Shortly after this Van der Riet called me for a meeting and told me he lost a lot of money on another job and he did and did not have money to carry on. He told me he has ordered and paid the deposit for my aluminium and stacker doors as well as the indoor braai, the floor tiles, light fittings etc. Vander Riet said he could not continue unless I gave him some money or bought the materials. I opted for the latter option and progress was made but in drips and drabs, with nothing happening on most days.

Van der Riet was never on site to supervise the work even though he promised this would be the case and this was one of my requiremensts before he got the job.

When we eventually got to the stage of installing the aluminium doors, the braai and the floor tiles, I discovered these items were never ordered and no payments had to be made.

Repeated attempts to ask Ian van der Riet to complete the work failed and he eventually failed stopped coming to site.

Van der Riet's repeated promised and commitments all failed. He is a liar and is very dishonest.

I eventually had to get the work completed myself and suffered damages of about R 75 000.00 and the job was only finally completed late in November 2016 ie it took double the amout of time resulting in a job of R 170 000.00 costing me about R 240 000.00, with lost of stress and worry.

Ian Van der Riet / KSA Builders are fraudsters and thieves and criminals should not be doing work for any society and they should be behind bars.

The case has been taken to the SAPS and a Lawyer who will now take the appropriate action.

Never, ever give Ian van der Riet of KSA Builders any work and never ever buy anything from him. He is a crook that should be prevented for doing work anywhere.

Jacques Van Wyk ( ID number 89 05 ********** 86), alias Wayne Hav(v?)enga, alias Wayne Geminova who claims to own “About Pools”, “Perfect Pools”, “Modern Pools”, “ Nova Pools”; “ Pool Painters” who lives in hiding in the Western Cape in Parrow, Stellenbosch, Somerset West - who knows and who claims to be not married and has a baby child ( poor thing) and has social media profiles saying he is married to alias “Jules Geminova”, who works for the DA in Cape Town is a crook, fraudster and a thief and he should be locked behind bars.

Apparently his parents know what he is doing and live in 112 A Villa in Barcelona, Alberville/Alberton? Other members of his family also know what he is doing, an dhopefully now his wife or girlfriend also know what he is doing.

Van Wyk says he banks at Capitec Bank and claims when he is busy with a swimming pool job the he gets defrauded at ATMs and cannot finish the job unless the Customer gives him more money, but it is all lies.

Jacques Van Wyk did many similar jobs in Gauteng and stole from lots of people. He has done several similar jobs in the WC and is still busy right now doing it. He calls himself Jacques Van Wyk but also has alias names on Face Book such as alias “Wayne Havenga”, alias “Wayne Geminova”. One of the vehicles he drives is registration CY 181 750 and he uses at least two more. He told me he lives in Parrow and is not married. He told another person he defrauded that he lives in Stellenbosch and he told AN Other person he lives in Somerset West. Although he told me he is not married he is with “Jules Geminova” as his wife and his baby on Face Book. He has WWW sites that appear and disappear overnight.

NEVER, ever give him any work or make use of his services, based on the following:

He quoted on a pool for me and it all looked very professional and detailed and he seemed smart and had answers to all the questions. The quote looked professional, enthusiastic to do a good job and he had a schedule and gave an office address and web page address etc.

He even gave about 6 references and I contacted 3 of them who gave good feedback - I now wonder if these people actually have pools built by him. Unfortunately, I never went and checked.

I placed the order and paid the deposit of about R 30 000.00, for an R83 000.00 pool, which include a wooden deck.

He started with some incompetent and inexperienced labour and dug the hole, supplied some bags of cement and stone and some reinforced steel and they struggled immensely to do the hand packed cement ( made from sand that came out the hole) and installed the re-enforcing incorrectly and poorly ( Although I am not a pool builder, I happen to be an ex Engineering Manager who was employed by a big company in SA).

They could not plaster the pool smooth and straight and got a plasterer from a home builder to come and help, but a mess can never be fixed properly.

He started the GRP lining but could not do it properly. It was porous, blistered and very uneven with many sharp and rough edges. The ceramics never dried and just collected dust and dirt and wa sall skew.

I made the 2nd part payment according to his schedule and just after that he told me he was robbed at an ATM and had he no money and could not carry on with my pool. He claims to have reported it to his Capitec Bank but he said they cannot do anything. In order to make progress, I bought him and paid for some materials to carry on and he begged for the balance to complete the work and I made the last 3rd payment hoping he would complete the work but he disappeared, with the job already a month over schedule and totally of an unacceptable standard. I made Repeated requests to get him back but failed and he just supplied excuses and eventually swore at us and insulted us when we contacted him.

During this time ( and while he was still working on the pool) we were selling a dressing table and he asked to buy it, but said he could only pay in a few days. We agreed and he never paid and has also made off with the dressing table. Thief!!!!

We had to employ another Pool company to redo all the GRP, refit the jets, block up an unsatisfactory bottom drain and supply and install the 36 m 2 of wooden deck and rectify all the incorrect and faulty piping and the electrical installation and supply. We also had to supply all the start up chemicals, the pool accessoroies, automatic pool cleaner etc, all at a total additional cost to me of about R 75 000.00

We have reported Jacques Van Wyk? to the SAPS for theft and fraud and for being a criminal . We also have taken the case to an Attorney and are going to lay charges at the WC Commercial Crime Unit.

Please be warned of our experience and NEVER EVER use Jacques Van Wyk alias Wayne Geminova, alias Wayne Havenga to do any work for you irrespective of the company he says he owns. His picture is on Face Book.

Several other people in the WC have contacted me and have told me they have had similar experiences and have suffered large losses.

Such a person is a disgrace to the services industry in SA, is unethical and should be prevented from ever doing any business with other people. He should be behind bars!
