About a month and a half ago I went to buy a new cartridge for my printer at PNA Heathway, Blackheath. When I got there I asked for the cartridge I always use, 111L. I was served by a young black female assistant whose name I did not think to note. I go to many shops at Heathway, it is not my habit to check who is serving me so that I remember. Cartridges at PNA Heathway sit behand the counter the shop assistance serve you as the customer. Further, if you ask for a bag, they pack it into the bag so you never actually see what they have packed until you need to use it., which is what happened in my case. I simply took the bag she packed it in believing that the shop assistant had given me what I had asked for. Last week when the ink finally ran out in my printer, a Samsung Multifunction 2070, I tried to replace the old cartridge with the new one, only to find that it would not fit. When I looked closer( to check why it would not fit), it was only then that I discovered that I had been given a wrong cartridge, size 116S instead of 111L. I went back to PNA Heathway where I bought it and to my surprise they told me that their policy is not to take back cartridges that have been opened. I explained what had happened and they said I should give them the name of the person who served me which of course I couldn’t. Next they wanted me to give them a receipt so I told them that it had not occurred to me to keep it. They then said without a receipt also they couldn’t be sure that I had bought the cartridge from them, implying that I am lying. This is a shop I go to regularly for my stationary as I run a business. I have been using the shop since it first opened it a couple of years ago. They then said I could leave the cartridge and they would check with the supplier to see what could be done and they would contact me once they have an answer. A day or so later they called to say they could not help me since I wasn’t able to identify who had assisted me and further said they had looked at the cartridge and found that I had used it so they wouldn’t change it. In short, it was my problem and not theirs. The fact that one of their shop assistance was careless which has resulted me in me loosing R 999 is not their problem or responsibility They didn’t even suggest that I could swop it for something else to the same value. They have pocketed my money and now I have to pay another R 999 for another cartridge. The implication to me is that I am a liar and I tried trying to dub them. I was dubbed by them!!
The owner Farouk sells a pitch that it’s a family business and they pride themselves on honest business. All this nothing more than a sales pitch and no truth. The owner himself is a rude arrogant and obnoxious person who has no interest in a good deal or customer service. Sad because I believed he had integrity. My advice, stay away from him and his elk. You would be doing yourself a favour.

On Saturday 15th of April while travelling the M5 in Gauteng to Krugersdorp I was unfortunate in two ways one of which was being insured by Risk Guard alliance. I drove into a large porthole that shattered the rim of my BMW. It is known that these vehicles do not have spare wheels so it had to be towed. Risk Guard Alliance towed the line in this respect and towed my car to a tyre place. Which was great. I was quite confident i could put in a claim for the damage to my vehicle. The fine print on the safe guard policy states the rims are not covered by insurance as they are not deemed part of the car. The cost of replacing the rim is R7000 and i have to replace a broken shock absorver at 6000 all due to this mishap. The insurance compay Risk Guard Alliance will not get involved. It would have been useful if they had mentioned this to me when i signed teh policy. If you are insured with this company dont be caught unaware. I have heard other insurance companies cover the rims of the car. An example of this is Alexander Forbes,. If you are with Risk Guard dont pay for extra cover, rather switch insurance companies.
