My son was in an accident recently, when somebody rear-ended his car at an intersection. Miway responded efficiently at first, but they said the car was un-economical to repair as their evaluation of the claim came to R34k, which is more than half the value of the car, according to them R57k. They offered to pay out, or I could buy back the car for R47k which would leave a R9k payout. This does not make sense, how can a car worth R57 k in good condition be worth R47k WITH R34k damage? I SMELL A RAT! I went for an independent quote at a Miway approved service provider, which came to R25k, less than half the value of the car, and therefore Miway would then be obliged to repair the car. Now they want to pay me out the cost of repairing the car and I must repair it without their assistance and backup - isn't that something I'm paying for? And with that they most probably want to weasel their way out of the car hire during repair clause, and the obligation to pursue the matter legally with the party who rear-ended the car, so i can get the excess back.
Their website, which is South African, said that the item I bought was in stock, so I surmised a 2 to 5 day delivery. I really needed the item urgently! Lo and behold, the item is being shipped from China, so i can expect it in 18 days. So dont belive when they say "in stock" and dont expect it quickly.
