I am suprised they call themselves an insurance company. I was involved in a car accident with an old man. He admitted he was on the wrong as the traffic light was green for us when he tried to make a turn while we re oncoming and crushed into our mazda From the onset he said he was going to take responsibility, that made me and my husband relax as he was an old frail man who could be in his late 60's and didn't think we will need a witness, or there will be change of events. He got us in contact with his insurance and a lady called Desiree was supposed to assist us. It took them full 2 months to come and do their assessment, after which they also told us to get 2 quotation. After the assessment to my suprise their conclusion was that their client was not responsible although he drove into our car while we had the right of way and the robot was green. They claimed that green robot doesn't mean we shouldn't observe and we were supposed to have observed when their client was making a right turn without checking the incoming car's which had a right of way. I don't understand how they have the nerve to give such conclusion when their client has admitted guilt, I have tried to get their client to compensate us as he said he was in the wrong but he cant make his insurance pay. Unfortunately we are not insured and we don't have an insurance to claim on our behalf. We are just suprised how this mlungu played along for 3 months and acted like he was willing to take accountability and now he is not even answering our calls.
I rented a car for three days from this company and never took the Screen,Tyre insurance cover as I was unaware at the time. I returned the car with a windscreen chip. A day later i found that both my cards ( Cheque & Credidt) were both being debited some strange amounts from Dollar Thrifty. A few hours later I received an email indicating that they have fixed the widscreen damage which amounted to R7118.39. I was utterly shocked to learn that the Windscreen chip I signed for when I checked in has amounted to that. I immediately sent an email to them with my concerns as follows : 1. Please note that when I checked in the car on Sunday , it only had a CHIP and not cracked. 2.I fail to understand how did you guys come up with a repairing amount of R7118.38 to fix a CHIP. 3.You had no right to debit my Cheque account as I made my booking with my Credit Card. 4. Lastly, why is it that you debiting my accounts without giving an invoice first to see where that ridiculous amounts comes from. Dollar Thrtifty company gave me a run around and continued to debit both my accounts. From that day till today this company has debited my accounts to a money amounting to R8000.00. PLUS!! I asked for the quotation from the company they did the repairs and all they gave me was a none existing quotation with no description or breakdown but just one amount. Please help me understand how you guys fix your windscreen with such amount or are you just out there to wrip people off. You havent heard the last of this... I have also asked Consumer Protection act to help me with this matter.
