I was sent by this agency to complete a 3-day trial with a family they supposedly “vetted.” From the interview it was already clear the job description didn’t match the actual expectations, but I still completed the trial (7am–4pm for 3 days). Afterward I was offered the position, which I respectfully declined because it clearly wasn’t the right fit. During the trial the previous au pair told me she had payment issues with this same family and that the agency didn’t help her resolve them. Unfortunately, I ended up in the exact same situation. Throughout the entire process you are told not to discuss money with the family — the agency handles it. Amy from the agency confirmed what I would be paid for the trial and that the trial period would be paid. When I eventually got paid the following Tuesday, it was not the full amount. I am still owed R443 for the hours I worked. It may not seem like a lot to them, but I worked those hours and it’s about principle. As soon as I raised the issue, the story suddenly changed and I was told to handle the money conversation with the mom myself — even though the agency explicitly tells au pairs not to talk about money with families. Ronel Maartens then refused to pay me, saying it was Amy’s fault for not clarifying the rate with the family. Apparently the mom paid me the previous au pair’s hourly rate instead of the rate listed in my job spec. That miscommunication happened within the agency, yet I’m the one left unpaid. It has now been 4 weeks, and nothing has been resolved. I’ve had to constantly follow up and mostly received generic, copy-paste responses. The agency was quick to secure their placement fee, but the moment there’s a problem they suddenly become an “introduction agency only” and wash their hands of it. What’s even worse is that they continued advertising the same family for new au pairs, despite knowing there were issues. I joined an agency to avoid situations exactly like this and to have some level of support and protection. Instead, I was left chasing my own money for work I already did. From my experience, this agency seems far more interested in collecting placement fees than actually supporting the au pairs they represent. If you’re an au pair looking for an agency that will actually stand behind you when something goes wrong, this is not the one.
I was sent to do a trial with a family that this supposed agency vetted - the family was a nightmare and from the interview I noticed that the description didn’t match the job expectations. Nonetheless I did all 3 days after which I was offered the job to which I declined as it was not a perfect fit for me. I also respectfully declined it with the mom. When I trialled the previous au pair told me she had money issues with this family and the agency also didn’t help one month back. Keep in mind when you interview, with the agency, with the family, when you trail and even after an offer you are not to speak about money whatsoever. As soon as I did my 3 days I was only paid the following week Tuesday after which was only because the mom was forcefully making sure I took the position with her. When I was eventually paid she didn’t pay me my full amount. I am still owed one month later R443. To the agency and Ronel Maartens it’s most probably not a lot of money but to me it is because I worked those hours for 7 to 4 for the 3 days and just out of principle too. Amy confirmed how much I was to be paid and that the trail period would be paid. The agency is quick to take the placement money and make sure they are sorted but will not help afterwards. As soon as I saw I wasn’t paid - I told the agency, all of a sudden I could handle the “money” talk with the mom. Ronel Maartens refused to pay me the rest because according to her it’s Amy’s fault who works at this *********** company. Amy didn’t clarify and the mom don’t bother checking so now I’m being punished because she paid me the last au pairs amount per hour even though my job spec listing said a higher amount and quite frankly has nothing to do with me. It was Amy’s job to handle the money conversation beforehand (you don’t even get to speak to the parents before the trial) so I went there knowing I’m going to get x amount and then didn’t get paid it. It’s now been 4 weeks later and still no help. According to them it’s my problem because Ronel Maartens is ignoring them and I must handle it. They can’t do their job so now it’s my problem. Keep in mind I would never have been there without them and now they choose to not be part of the process. It’s ridiculous. They don’t care about you. They care about their placement fee. They care about themselves. I had to be the one constantly checking in with Amy Lee and she always gave me the cookie cutter chatbot answers, I am beyond shocked at the experience. Another interview I went to the parents complained the previous aupair they placed was on drugs and left their child. I don’t know what on earth they do all day except post TikTok’s but it’s not look out for you as an au pair or the family. They won’t pay me my money because they are an “introduction agency only” why am I then not handling the money talk myself or the contracts. I found it so odd how now all of a sudden they refuse to take responsibly for the line up of experience they put ME through. Up until a week ago they still had her listing up looking for their next victim to push into that awful family. But they told me they won’t bother with her anymore and have “blacklisted” her weeks prior. They lie so much they can’t keep up no wonder they don’t have time for working or your problems as an au pair. I chose to be represented by a company to be safe at an agency and avoid any drama and have someone look out for me. Safe to say this is not the agency where you will be looked after.
RM has outdone themselves on the worst service I’ve received with an establishment offering courses. The lack of concern when you phone them is just the beginning of the service to expect. If you manage to get through on the phone because whether you press 1,2 or 3 nobody answers - don’t be surprised when you get someone eating and having a fat chat with people on the other side of the phone mid call. My experience was so awful that the Friday before classes start I have yet to receive any ANY information on what’s going on. If you do not get in contact with them - you will get nothing. Why must I get hold of you guys? Why isn’t it standard procedure to send out course work, info packs, timetable, dates of classes like anything. You guys wouldn’t know your left from your right in that dysfunctional building, I just know from this level of service I received the course would have been a nightmare. The guy handling line 2 needs to be put in the back office very far from any verbal communication with paying students. Besides his rude manner, his incompetence is what set me over the edge. He also repeatedly **** to me about a plethora of concerns I had as well as never managed to meet any of the questions I had with actual fulfilment. I had to keep calling back and begging. Once you pay your money it’s game over. Because all your calls are recorded whoever is higher up needs to go listen to the imbeciles you “pay” to manage the place. When I mentioned that the line 2 guy was blatantly lying and had said the opposite 2 days prior he straight out ****. Your stupid staff are loosing you students - no wonder only 2 students enrolled for a course. Thankfully after painful weeks I received my refund. The best part of this experience is never having to deal with them again, unfortunately no matter how hard you do research and how many reviews you read. All their 5 star reviews must have been paid for because even if they paid me I wouldn’t go do a course for free. They also remove your reviews off of Google.
Swiitchbeauty has the worst customer service i have ever experienced. They ignored me for weeks. When I did get an email on the replacement of my products, they acted like they've never heard of me or my problems. Almost a month of their horrific service. I will never purchase from them. They took my money, and then that "empty promise" of customer service and product quality was just lies. I'll never recommend them to any one again.
