My wife passed away just over two months ago. I submitted the life policy through my Financial advisor. Although I am the owner of the policy, and the one who paid it monthly, Sanlam said it could not be paid out to me. It had to go into the estate. After pressure from my Advisor, they changed their statement and said it should be paid out to me. However, apparently I have applied for a policy but I was, according to them, turned down. The fact: I have not applied for a policy. Again my Advisor put pressure on them. They then admitted again that they made a mistake. After more than two months of frustration, irritation, and major disappointment with Sanlam, the money was paid out to me. Obviously I will not invest my money with Sanlam.
